The automatic upgrade fails for saying

'Database files could not be backed up. Failed at Step 2'

On one of my blogs, but I think it's because there are thousands of posts, other than than it's no different to some other blogs I updated, eg on same server etc

Just tested it on a Godaddy economy hosting. Strange mysql errors (connection lost) but in the end the "manual" upgrade worked. I can send you the log files if you want.

@Scoot: Which hosting plan are you using?

I think the root of your plugin not working correctly across all servers come from a lack of using ABSPATH to set the root of the wordpress install. The last version, when I clicked the 'update Wordpress Database" link, would take me to myblog.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php instead of myblog/*wordpress*/wp-admin/upgrade.php

Also, due to the same type of snafu, the javascripts aren't linked properly in the WPAU page in Admin->Manage->
/wordpress/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-automatic-upgrade/js/*

Note the DOUBLED wordpress.

Basically, if you can sort out consistent paths to the files needed, the script will work.
ABSPATH = server side path to wordpress root
get_bloginfo('url') = client side path to the same.

I'm not writing this to complain, and I am thankful to those who have put their time into building wpau. I have had problems with the plugin and can't figure it out. BTW I'm not a coder so I may not be much help, but I get to the point where it's supposed to go into maintenance mode, but it just doesn't. I have had certain problems with my hosting service and plugins in the past. I wonder if that may be it, but I don't know. My hosting service is Go Daddy.
