Amidst the MIX11 buzz around Windows Phone, Microsoft released a refresh of Visual Studio Async CTP that is compatible with VS2010 SP1 and adds Windows Phone 7 support.

Visual Studio Async CTP extends Visual Studio 2010. It provides streamlined syntax for asynchronous development in C# and Visual Basic.

The first CTP released at PDC10 had more than 19,000 downloads, and a lot of community excitement. The SP1 refresh includes Visual Studio 2010 SP1 compatibility, APIs for Windows Phone 7 development, and a new EULA with updates regarding usage in production environments. It is compatible with non-English installations of Visual Studio and with Visual Studio Express.

Program Manager Alex Turner demos Async running in the WP7 emulator and provides some insights into potential future directions in debugging capabilities for Async.
