Rock on with The Band on WinMo
By on August 31st, 2009

If the iPhone Piano app or the Nokia 5800 music apps made you jealous, make way for the complete band, all for free, on your Windows Mobile device.

Hyonga Sheon, a Korean developer, has developed an exciting and fun application – Omniano – that allows you to play – flute, drums, and piano in one single app on your WinMo.

Omniano - Piano Omniano - Drum Omniano - Flute

Much of the site of the developer is in Korean language, and hence I do not have much specifics of the same. The application supports VGA, QVGA, WQVGA, and WVGA resolution. For details about the instruments, do check out the diagrams here (in English), as they exhaustively tell you about the finer details.

Installing the latest version of Omniano is tricky. First, install the original version of the application from the appropriate .cab file here. To update the app to the latest version, download the zip file from here. Extract the .exe from the zip file, and copy it to the installation folder (E.g., Storage Cardprogram filesomniano the band), replacing the existing .exe.

Sheon is actively working on the app fixing hardware specific issues, and he also promises the availability of Guitar in the upcoming versions!
