Microsoft has officially announced during today’s Windows Phone Summit that there are over 100,000 apps in the Windows Phone Marketplace.

At the Windows Phone Summit, Microsoft has confirmed that existing Windows Phone users will not be able to upgrade to Apollo. Rather, they will be receiving an incremental update to Windows Phone 7.8.

Midweek yayness! The brilliant research and engineering showcase from Microsoft – Photosynth – is now available on the Windows Phone Marketplace. The Photosynth app for iOS has been a hit with over 7 million downloads, however, like several recent apps for Windows Phone, this one too apparently betters the user experience than its counterpart.

If Angry Birds or Kinectimals weren’t enough, Indian superheroes – Chhota Bheem and Shaktimaan – have arrived on the Windows Phone Marketplace. It would be very hard for us Windows Phone users to keep our phones off kids in the family now!

The very popular and addictive Windows Phone game – Wordament – has just been reborn as an Xbox LIVE title with refreshed look and few extra features. The game, developed by veteran Microsoft employees – John Thornton and Jason Cahill – is still available for free though.

Flipkart, the leading online store from India has released a Windows Phone app last week amongst the burst of local applications from India. The app offers shopping for a wide variety of products across several categories including movies, music, games, mobiles, cameras, computers, and electronics.
