Few would argue that moneycontrol.com is amongst the best, if not the best, financial and business portals in India. The umbrella group, Network18, also runs two leading financial news channels – CNBC TV18 and CNBC Awaaz. All that goodness has now arrived on Windows Phone.
The moneycontrol app is one stop shop for news and information about business, economy, and financial markets. The app provides real time stock quotes, Indian and global market Indices, and in-depth coverage and analysis. The app provides a catalog of videos and also live TV (CNBC TV18 and CNBC Awaaz).
The app employs the Metro UI in an intuitive and functional manner, and a stock ticker is nicely placed at the top across all screens. With Live Tiles updates and toast notifications the news and updates are available at a glance.
The naming bit is a little confusing though. While the app is called ‘moneycontrol’, the title within the app is ‘markets on mobile’ and the splash screen also displays ‘moneycontrol.com’. Anyway, it’s a fine app, very useful, and costs nothing.
