Remember your first IM conversation in the 90s? Most probably it would have been on ICQ, where you were identified not by a handle or name or email address, but by a unique #number. ICQ, now owned by AOL, has now brought that world from desktop to WinMo with a recent beta release.
The mobile application allows you to update your ICQ status and information when you’re on the go. ICQ for WinMo has many of the same key features and the familiar look-and-feel of the desktop ICQ client.
ICQ for Windows Mobile supports Windows Mobile 5 and Windows Mobile 6/6.1 – both touch screen and non-touch screen devices. It is a nicely made application, available free of charge (ofcourse you’ll incur data charges).
However, there are few obvious features like adding or searching a contact missing in this release. Since it’s an early beta, we won’t complain much.
Download the app from AOL’s project page, or snap the tag below for a direct download link of the cab file (1.06MB).
