ClearTemp: A neat, handy utility
By on March 12th, 2009

ClearTemp is a neat utility to clear temporary/unused files and unused registry keys/values on your WinMo device. The application doesn’t involve any configuration or intellectual steps. A simple tap on ‘Clean’ does the trick. Easy!

ClearTemp allows you to clear your Recent Program list, Internet Address history and boot count, along with temporary files/MRU (most recently used) list of few third-party applications like Google Maps, Virtual Earth Mobile, Opera Mobile, etc. You can even change the location of the temporary folders (Cache, History & Cookies) or email attachment folder to the storage card, and also specify custom folders which you wish to clear. A result popup message box specifies the details of files cleaned.

You can choose what items you wish to clear on the main screen. Through the Options, you can change location of temporary files or email attachments, and specify the location of Custom Folder 1 and 2. It also provides a handy option to soft-reset your device. The clean operation can be configured as a start up option. However, this option does not clear bad registries, dead shortcuts and dead SIPs automatically.

A known issue exists with the app in the current version. The detection of ‘Mail Attachments’ does not work well on some devices.

If you wish to uninstall the application, uncheck the ‘Auto clean on Start Up’ option and alos delete the ‘ClearTemp Startup.lnk’ shortcut file in the startup folder at WindowsStartUp.

You can download the application from the developer’s Website here, or snap the tag below for a direct download of the .cab file.
