AdDuplex: Ad Exchange Network for Windows Phone Apps
By on May 29th, 2011

Once you’ve built a great Windows Phone 7 app or game, AdDuplex is a brilliant way to promote the app and monetize it. You can promote your app for free by helping fellow developers promote theirs and when your app gains enough exposure, you can monetize it to make some extra bucks or reach your target figure in revenues.

You add the AdControl to your Silverlight or XNA Windows Phone application and start serving ads for other WP7 apps. In return, they serve ads for your app. AdDuplex is targeted at Windows Phone specifically, so ads for your apps will open the Marketplace immediately. The ratio is 8:10. For each 10 ads displayed in your app 8 of your ads will be displayed in other apps. The remaining 2 ads will be sold to support the service.

You can also opt-in to a mixed mode model to monetize your app while still promoting it through the AdDuplex network for free. You can choose what percentage of your exchange balance you want to monetize. The system will automatically serve commercial ads to your application up to the specified percentage of your impressions.

For example, your current exchange ratio is 0.8 and you specify that you want to monetize up to 50% of your exchange balance. In this case, for 1000 impressions per day, 400 will go into the exchange program as before, 200 will go to AdDuplex, and up to 400 will be filled with commercial ads.

AdDuplex offers 10,000 impressions distributed over approximately 15 days for an introductory price of $21 (Otherwise $30) and 100,000 impressions distributed over approximately 30 days for an introductory price of $140 (Otherwise $200).

AdDuplex offers a unique advantage to developers around the world since Microsoft Advertising for Windows Phone 7 is only available in US as of now. Using this ad exchange network, international developers can monetise or promote their apps. A slight holdback is that as yet, the payouts are made via PayPal only. So it will work only in the countries where you can receive payments via PayPal. Minimum payout amount is $50.
