If you are like me and spend lots of time using putty for more than half of a day, you are definitely going to love Goosh a new and cool way to search Google by typing shell commands.

The interface looks quite similar to a Unix Shell and can be easily adapted by anyone who is bored using the normal web browser way of searching.

To use Goosh you will have to type commands like you type in UNIX to get the search results, and example of a command to find “Techie Buzz” in Google search is;

web Techie Buzz

You can also search Wikipedia using Goosh, the command for searching Wikepedia is;

wiki Bill Gates

There are also other commands using which you can search Google Unix style, to see all the commands simply type “h” or “help” without the quotes and press Enter, you should see a list of commands you can use along with the parameters you need to pass to it.

Overall Goosh provides a decent experience for heavy UNIX users and I can say that transitioning from Putty to Goosh will be a piece of cake and over time I may definitely ditch the regular Google Search :) .

Give Goosh a try and let me know your feedback on what you think about it.

Note: We discourage users from using keywords in their names while posting comments, most of them get caught by spam, also it really would be more fruitful in knowing people who comment by their real name, rather than by using a name no one relates to. In future we reserve the right to delete comments from users using a name other than their own.
