The delicious team have been playing around announcing the release of Delicious 2.0 for quite some time now, they have faced several problems in past with the release, but it was definitely a happy day for them today as they announced the release of Delicious 2.0 to the public.

One of the changes with delicious 2.0 is the move to a new domain called delicious.com from the old del.icio.us. With this release they have also made the service more faster and provided users with better search and design.

Speed: We’ve moved to a new infrastructure that makes every page faster.

Search: We’ve completely overhauled our search engine to make it faster and more powerful.

Design: Finally, we’ve updated the user interface to improve usability and add a few often-requested features (such as selectable detail levels and alphabetical sorting of bookmarks).

We gave the delicious 2.0 site a spin and saw a lot of improvement in speed, the search interface is quite good too, you now get tag suggestions as you type keywords in the search box.

Delicious also has a improved browsing experience making navigation much more easier, they have added several drop down menus for better navigation.

We don’t see any option to go back to the old interface though, all users of the old del.icio.us site will be force migrated to the new delicious.com (del.icio.us redirects to the new site). The overall features and new design look good and we guess you won’t be annoyed with the force switch to the new interface.

@Saratoga quite true, except that many people are complaining that there are no additional features even though it was 1 year in the making.

It’s about high time del.icio.us need a makeover of its interface. The new design is definitely much better than the old plain del.icio.us.

Thanks for the heads up. I wonder why they decide to change its domain name.

Note: We discourage users from using keywords in their names while posting comments, most of them get caught by spam, also it really would be more fruitful in knowing people who comment by their real name, rather than by using a name no one relates to. In future we reserve the right to delete comments from users using a name other than their own.
