If you are a fan of twitter and want to use twitter some way other than web based, then there are several options available. However, if you are looking for something which is similar to Yahoo Messenger for Vista, then Witty is the right client for you.
Witty is twitter client for Windows Vista which is built on WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation). It is being developed by Alan Le of Vertigo Company. However you are not going to find its mention in the company’s homepage as it is in its early beta stage. You can find out more about the project by visiting its Google Code Page.
With witty, you can view twitter status of people you are following as well as updating your own status. You can also view recent replies and direct messages through it. It can even check for updates from your friends at regular intervals which you can specify. You can also minimize it to your taskbar where it sits nicely. The main thing which I like about it is its super cool interface. It also supports various keyboard shortcuts which makes it worth trying.
Download Witty v0.1.5 (986 Kb)
The current stable version is 0.1.5 and 0.1.6 is in alpha stage. Just download and extract the files on your computer. After extraction just run “witty.exe”. The program can also run in Windows XP but you will have to install WPF .Net extension.
I am a regular Twitter user. Feel free to follow me. What do you think about this client? Which application do you use to update your twitter status? Share your thoughts in comments.
