Quite recently, Google announced a new data liberation API that allows users to import and export content from Google Sites, a popular and free way to get started with creating your own website with minimal HTML and CSS knowledge.

A developer was quick enough to pounce on the news and create a handy that allows you to import and export your website data from Google sites.

Once you download the tool, you will need to provide the details of your Google sites URL and provide it with a username and password to import or export your Google sites data.

The exported data will be stored in XHTML format. You can then open those files locally or even upload them to a different hosting site.

To re-import or restore your Google sites data you can provide the location of the previously exported data and the software will take care of the rest.

Note: We discourage users from using keywords in their names while posting comments, most of them get caught by spam, also it really would be more fruitful in knowing people who comment by their real name, rather than by using a name no one relates to. In future we reserve the right to delete comments from users using a name other than their own.

XHTML: You can use these tags: <a href="" title=""> <abbr title=""> <acronym title=""> <b> <blockquote cite=""> <cite> <code> <del datetime=""> <em> <i> <q cite=""> <strike> <strong>
