SnagIt is one of the most popular screen capture tools available today, we have been using SnagIt for quite some time now to create the images for the blog and other uses. SnagIt in itself is a very feature rich tool, providing you with various options to capture images or record screen activities.

In addition to the built-in features SnagIt also provides accessories called as Outputs which allow you to send the capture directly to another service. By default SnagIt allows you to send the captures by email, upload it to a FTP site or to office products such as Word, Excel or Powerpoint.

They also have a option to upload the images directly to your Flickr account, for a complete list of supported outputs visit the SnagIt outputs accessories page.

SnagIT is a cool tool, but there’s a similar tool in ScreenGrab. Screengrab is a Firefox add-on that provides similar functionality and it’s FREE.

You can copy or select a part of your web screen, right from the Firefox browser and cut/paste the saved .jpeg info into an email or blog.

Screengrab is for copying what you see on your browser.

SnagIt can grab any info off the desktop.

I have and use both, and they’re great to have.

@Dave thanks for the information, I have tried screengrab too and find it pretty useful while using Firefox.

Note: We discourage users from using keywords in their names while posting comments, most of them get caught by spam, also it really would be more fruitful in knowing people who comment by their real name, rather than by using a name no one relates to. In future we reserve the right to delete comments from users using a name other than their own.
