We have previously talked about testing a website in different versions of IE and testing a website on iPhone. However, along with the cross-browser testing, it is also critical to see how your website would appear to users using different screen resolutions. Depending on the computer and the monitor settings, screen resolutions can go from 800 x 600 to 1920 x 1200.

One way to test a website in different resolutions is to use different monitors and/or adjust resolutions on your computer. The other way, a much simpler one, is to use an application like ViewLikeUs. ViewLikeUs is a free web app that lets you view a website in 9 different screen resolutions. It is an Ajax based tool so you don’t have to download anything and you don’t have to register for an account. Simply enter the URL of the web page you want to view and off you go.

Here are the different resolutions you can view a website in using ViewLikeUs:

ViewLikeUs also allows you to view a website the way it would appear on an iPhone and a Wii browser.

Note: We discourage users from using keywords in their names while posting comments, most of them get caught by spam, also it really would be more fruitful in knowing people who comment by their real name, rather than by using a name no one relates to. In future we reserve the right to delete comments from users using a name other than their own.
