Windows Seven : Access Hidden Regional Themes

Posted By Pallab De On August 29, 2009 @ 3:00 pm In Tips And Tricks | 1 Comment

Windows Seven ships with several region specific themes and wallpapers which are hidden by default. Prior to Windows Seven installation you are asked to select the language, time and currency format. This information is used by Windows to determine which country/region you belong to.

Regional themes are available for United States, Great Britain, Australia, Canada and South Africa. Although Windows only displays the regional themes if you belong to these regions, all the themes are copied to your hard disk during installation. As a result, you can easily access these additional goodies even if you don’t belong to these countries.

All the country specific goodies are stored at C:WindowsGlobalizationMCT (where C: is the Windows Seven partition). AU, CA, GB, UA and ZA are the country codes for Australia, Canada, Great Britain, United States and South Africa respectively. Open any of the sub-folders and double click on the theme files to apply them. If you are only interested in the wallpapers just copy paste them. If you are still not satisfied you can download more themes from the official Windows Seven Personalization Center [1].
