A few months ago I had written about how to lose your Google page rank and Alexa rankings and ironically it’s on the first page for quite a few search term. In that post I had explained how I lost my rankings due to my negligence. I let the blog rankings slip and also lost a lot of readers.

However its been 4 months since then and I have made up for my mistakes and tried hard to make this blog popular. Today I am proud to say that Techie Buzz is amongst the top 10000 blogs as ranked by Technorati.

The blog has also been going quite well in terms of ranking in Alexa and it ranks inside the top 100000 web sites in terms of traffic. The current Alexa ranking for the blog is 81,439. Though it is predicted to go up I am quite happy to be inside the top 100000 web sites.

Traffic

Traffic has also doubled in past few months and am now getting more than 1000 unique visitors per day, and more than 270 feed subscribers.

Revenue

In terms of revenue AdSense is performing very good and there has been a 300% increase in revenue over last 4 months. Other than that revenue sources from Text Link Ads has started to come in as well sponsored reviews.

How I Rectified My Mistakes

Blogging is not easy and rebuilding a blog is harder because most of your readers have already lost faith, but I was determined and took a planned approach towards rebuilding it. I sat down and analyzed my mistakes taking notes of how I can rectify them.

Systematic Approach

Earlier my blogging was done in a haphazard manner with no current or future plans in place. This lead to posting 10 posts a day and none for next 10 days. I did away with this habit and started organizing my posts in a more systematic manner such that not to overburden my readers or give them nothing at all.

This approach has been quite successful for me and I have been able to give quality content over quantity. Also I have more ideas which I can work on thus I can escape the bloggers block quite frequently.

More Planning

I am now putting more time in planning my posts and positioning them. I have jotted down a number of ideas and set aside an hour or two to research and create a post out of it as and when I get time.

Even though I may complete 3 posts a day I do not rush all of them onto the user but space it out giving me more time to review for mistakes and add in additional things that may be missing.

More Interaction

The lesser I interacted with my readers the fewer chances of them becoming regular readers. Default WordPress comments management did not allow bloggers to reply to comments from the admin panel and you always had to go to the post to make a reply, this was using up a lot of time and my responsiveness to users comments was getting slower.

The frustration of not having any plugin available to reply to comments from admin panel led to the creation Better Comments Manager one of the most popular WordPress plugins today. This plugin really helped me become more interactive and I could reply within a matter of few seconds to user comments.

With more interaction with users I got a steady increase in readers.

More Personalization

My blog was a mess earlier cluttered with buttons and what not, this made it look unprofessional to the readers. A reader will be more than willing to come back to your blog if you have a more professional look. There are lots of very good themes out there and Kyle covers a list of themes based on K2 mods, best 2 column themes and best 3 column themes.

Though there are lots of good themes I always prefer something personalized so I have given the new look to the site which is one of my own creations. Yea I can design a bit too :-) and being a WordPress power user I can create my own theme too.

Setting Targets

I never used to set targets for myself with respect to the blog, but as a part of getting organized I started to set targets that I had to accomplish over a period of them, the targets were as simple as writing 10 posts in 15 days or a target to get above the 100 feed subscriber mark by so and so date.

Though all targets are not achievable always I worked on a penalty system that if a target is not achieved I would have to do that extra bit of work for the next target.

Setting targets for your selves is a real helper but you have to follow it religiously. Just because you are setting them yourself for yourself it should not be lesser than any other targets. Also I broke down a month long target into smaller weekly target so if this month I want to gain 100 more subscribers I broke it down into getting 25 per week, if week 1 target failed I have to work more hard so that I could reach to the 50 mark in the next week.

Believe me this works quite well if you follow it diligently, also the targets should be realistic and not some absurd.

More Quality Content

Last but not the list I am striving to provide with more quality and original content to my readers and it is why you may have seen a lots of original articles which tend to make your life easier some way or the other.

I will always strive to give you more such quality content in future too.

Future Path

There are quite a few articles I have planned over the coming weeks with a few plugin releases in between. Future posts may concentrate on getting useful information and more original How to articles from me.

Now that I have released three WordPress plugins I feel more comfortable developing plugins. You can always let me know your ideas for new WordPress plugins.

There are quite a few more things that I have planned for the future of the blog and you should see them in due course. I also have a few pending assignments to write for other blogs which I may take up soon.

Advertising on this site

I have been getting quite a few advertising options but have turned down a few. I am planning to come up with a Advertise page with spots available and the rates on a month to month basis.

Do let me know your views through your valuable comments, all this was possible only because of your love towards this blog.

Congrats on making it to the Top 10k, and well deserved!

I also prefer and use a custom theme as well for my site. In addition to making plugins, you are obviously very talented at making themes. Have you ever considered throwing up some themes for download as well? They can be a good way to generate incoming links (both from the theme footer and from people pointing to your theme in their posts) and also increase traffic.

Note: We discourage users from using keywords in their names while posting comments, most of them get caught by spam, also it really would be more fruitful in knowing people who comment by their real name, rather than by using a name no one relates to. In future we reserve the right to delete comments from users using a name other than their own.
