I want to uninstall IE 8 from vista because i am facing problem using it. I tried this post to uninstall it but i am unable to see the option Windows Internet Explorer 8 Beta X. Please help me to uninstall it. Moreover when i am trying to install IE-8 on my pc, i am getting a message that IE 8 is not supported in your operating system. Kindly help….

Looked at your site to remove IE8 in XP from my programs . It does not work have NO IE8 IN ADD AND REMOVE PROGRAMS LISTED. Went to command prompt and tried to enter %windir%\ie8\spuninst\spunist.exe and this does not work get message not a batch command etc . Have 3 ie8′s running in task manager all at ounce and have malware or a trojan but unable to find it and looked at the forums and nothing has worked so far .

I know exactly how you feel. I have had numerous problems with IE8. I tried the method listed above and that didn’t work either. I can’t stand IE 8–if you do find a solution on how to get rid of it please email me at kycat.fan@yahoo.com Thanks!

I followed the instructions you had listed here for uninstalling Internet Explorer 8–however I still can’t uninstall it. Do you have any more ideas that would help me get rid of it–it has totally messed up my computer. Thanks!

Ive been trying to get rid of IE8 and reinstall IE7; appearently my system is too slow. but everytime I follow these commands I get an error message- this time the same. So am I stuck with IE8 on my system? Iam not a IT professional ( obviously) anyone have any ideas?

Now that i found this guide i am going to uninstall ie8 full version because i dont like how new tabs do not open next to current tab, quite silly really not to have this feature which was in ie7 and is in all other browsers.

I have tried everything to get out ie8 with no joy when I went to add& remove ie8 was not there so couldn,t remove it,,it has screwed up alot of files on my computer, like emails folder files
fav files now I cant open them,,I have tottaly had enough of ie 8,please tell me how to get this thing out,,,,,,thanks alot in advance,…..george.

Alternative steps for Windows XP or for Windows Server 2003

To uninstall Internet Explorer 8, follow these steps:

Carefully select and then copy the following command:

%windir%ie8spuninstspuninst.exe

Click Start, and then click Run.

In the Open box, type Cmd.exe, and then press ENTER.

Right-click inside the Cmd.exe window, and then click Paste to paste the command that you copied in step 1.

Press ENTER to uninstall Internet Explorer 8.

When the uninstall program is finished, restart your computer.

After you follow these steps, go to the "Did the alternative steps fix the problem?" section to verify that your earlier version of Internet Explorer is restored.

In IE7/Firefox on Vista or XP I never got any crashes, but IE8 on Vista… Damn, it feels like the browser has been through hell and back! When I opened Task Manager with it open, there would be 5-7 iexplore.exe processes. IE7 only had one.

I’m going to uninstall right NOW!!

For me, ie8 would not open any Web site pages. Only a message would show telling me that the page could not be displayed.

I tried reinstalling ie7, but the installer complained that a newer version of ie existed, and would go no further. I have yet to be able to uninstall ie8. Turns out, Service Pack 3 eliminates the ability to UNINSTALL either ie7 or ie8. I saw that the European Union is maybe filing suit about that. Hope so. Anyway… Service Pack 3, according to MS, must be removed to enable the uninstalling of ie7 or ie8. However, the detailed instructions MS provided for removing Service Pack 3 failed to work. So… I am back to dealing with the nastiest “virus” I have ever experienced — not counting those that totally destroyed my computer.

I did see a dangerous method for removing ie8 by editing the registry — which was involved and risky. I decided to only try that last. Well… I’m at that point now. But I lost the link to the extensive instructions. Trying now to find that again. I believe it is now my only recourse.
