Installed it on server 2003.
Works fine with small glitch- no valid IE8 to run.
IE8 from that pack runs on IE7 engine.

Cool pack for older versions.
Unfortunately for some reason IE8 mode running on engine from IE7.0.5730.13 not on IE8.X.XXXX.XX.
Therefor it can not be considered as good for testing anything in IE8….

I wouldn't call this solution "elegant", but rather cumbersome. Launching a number of virtual machines and than manually executing all these browsers… don't you think there got to be better alternative?

This is how I solved this problem.
There is one elegant way to run IE6, IE7 and IE8 on the same machine, called virtual PC.

First download virtual PC from Microsoft website here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloadS/details.aspx?F…

Then download 3 EXE files with IE6, IE7 and IE8 here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=21EABB90-958F-4B64-B5F1-73D0A413C8EF&displaylang=en” rel=”nofollow”>:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=21EABB90-958F-4B64-B5F1-73D0A413C8EF&displaylang=en

Install them on your PC and test your web applications. Saved me days of looking for similar solutions.

Iâ€™m working on a browser screenshot application and as I rely on IE collection it is interesting to check user inputs.

Just tried installing on XP SP2, but clicking on drop-downs causes the pop-up blocker bar to appear, but can’t turn it off. the drop-downs don’t drop down, and one has to use arrow keys to select a value.

Also found a possible problem with links to .ashx (asp.net handler files), where they didn’t open.

I installed it on my XP. But unable to use it. I just cant enter anything if I open a web page and have to enter something in an input field. Any idea?

Having multiples IE version might not be a good idea, those previous versions are very vulnerable and for that reason trying these version are very risky.
