I have a similar problem where media player asks to update the codec everytime i try to run a video file. If agreed it stops responding after certain period of time. When i downloaded the K-lite codec pack and tried to open the file using Media player classic it says" cannot render the file". What is the problem plz help me on this.

@hammad I don’t know about that I’ve just come across CCCP Codec pack which in my opinion is better, oh well..CCCP in 1st place then k-lite 2nd place, as CCCP comes with Zoom Player I like Zoom Player. thanks great post

nice word keith i think its klite pack is the best
otherwise i tested vlc player as well and it played all the file. Use it if you dont want to use windows media player….
