Epay, a PayPal and Google Checkout alternative
By on September 15th, 2007

Many people use PayPal and Google Checkout to send and receive payments without the need of having a bank account, these services work as a virtual bank where you can send and receive payments, add funds to them and withdraw funds from them.

These services are hugely popular and are widely used by a number of sites and users. The biggest problem with these services is that you cannot withdraw your balances right away, withdrawal can be either done using the cheque facility which they provide or transferring the money to your bank account directly with additional limitations on bank transfers being available in only certain countries.

Now what if you can have a virtual bank that also provides you with a Debit card, yes a debit card with which you can shop, pay for services and more all with a virtual bank account.

Epay is a service that allows you to make online payments and send money, receive money from any country. In addition to this you can also make payments using SMS right from your cell phone and from your desktop using your email.

Creating a Epay account is free and you can take advantages of a virtual banking environment immediately. Epay also offers a very high paying referral program where you can refer a friend to Epay and make 150$ or refer a merchant and make $250, this is more than what other referral programs offer.

Epay provides you with a debit card which you can use like your normal bank debit card to shop or pay for services. The debit card though is not free and you incur charges for it, the benefits of having such a debit card is more likely to surpass the fees you incur. To see more detailed charges for the debit care you can visit their pricing pages.  It also offers virtual credit cards which you can use like your regular banking credit card. The credit card also have certain issuing fees.

Both the debit cards and credit cards are directly linked to your Epay account and not your banks. The charges to send and receive money is also low compared to the other virtual banking services.

You can directly send cash to any country without having to wait for cheques to come to you, this is one of the features I liked since the cheque payments usually take about 25 days to come to you and it’s your hard earned money after all.

If you have been using PayPal or Google Checkout for some time then I suggest you try out Epay and figure out for yourself the best one.
