		<description>Hi Micheal,

I will definitely have a look at Directory Opus and give my feedback on the blog within next couple of days.

I will definitely try and recommend you the best one.

		<description>Hi there,

Thanks for the tip on xplorer2. I know several friends who are using the software here at Snowblind Studios. Myself, I use Directory Opus, which is similar but, in my opinion, far more powerfull. On the flip side, Directory Opus tends to be far less concerned about looking exactly like explorer - so it isn't a great choice for those looking for an incremental jump in features vs. a revolutionary upgrade.

Anyway, I would be curious to know what you think of the two products. I would try out xplorer2 if you told me that it was worth looking into even if you have directory opus, so please let me know what you think. One particular issue I would be interested to hear your thoughts on is ease of use. Given that Directory Opus caters to the experienced crowd, how far would you go in recommending it to a non-poweruser?

My opinion is that if you want the best, go with Directory Opus and spend a little time exploring its more useful features. However, if you just want that 90% improvement that tabbed browsing and a dual-pane view provides, go with xplorer2 or similar. You will probably be more comfortable, spend a lot less time learning the quirks, and never miss the power features that I use every day in dopus. Generally, I recommend dopus only to those I know would take advantage of one or more of its advanced features.

Directory Opus just recently started distributing their first betas for version 9.0. You can check it out here:

All this talking about Directory Opus makes me want to write a new entry in my blog talking about the things I love most about it. :)

Anyway, I blather on, don't I? It is funny, but when you actually put your money on the line for a product you tend to feel like an evangalist for it just so you can feel great about spending that cold, hard cash. Don't worry though - I am not affiliated with them in any way - just a dedicated user. :-)
