Must have firefox extensions

well i just wanted to put up some firefox extensions that i feel you should use, some of these are pretty useful and can save a lot of time for you.

 ok here are some of them now

web developer toolbar (must have)

if you are a css developer, web developer or just a site tester this is one plugin you should have installed in your firefox, this plugin can rip apart any html page with in seconds, with ripping i mean displaying all css used in the page, displaying the tables used, dom view, validating links, checking for valid xhtml and loads of more stuff.

the on feature i definitely liked is the css editor, well it lets me play around and modify the css right on the live site (it uses cached copy to update changes), so you can now just see how a site is created or modify the css to fix errors without having to leave the browser.

you can download the toolbar from here.

gmail space (must have)

many of today have a gmail account which we use frequently. the gmail space extension allows you to drag and drop files and folders directly into your gmail account, a cool way to back up your stuff regulalry without the hassel of getting new drives or expensive backup utilities.

you can download the toolbar

 crash recovery (must have)

ever suffered a firefox crash with 10 tabs open, well then you have already know how painful it gets, but wait there is this cool tool that stores information prior to the crash and voila when you open up firefox again all your old tabs are back where you left them.

this is one thing i definitely recommend to guard against unexcpected crashes.

you can download this from

here

browster extension (must have)

this is another one i recommend, as it allows you to preview the page without leaving the current page. what i mean is say that you are reading an article and do not want to go to another page till you complete this one and there is a link which is there in the article that explains something you should know, just use browster to hover over that link and it will open up in browster window, now read that part and take your mouse back to the browser and ur back at the original article.

well you can also just hover over the browster symbol while on a link and get back to reading, it will load that page in the background, so when your finished reading with it just hover back and you will see the page already loaded in browster.

browser site

browse images (must have)

this is one exstension i love, this is a perfect one when you want to save or open lots of images on one page. on clicking a button in the toolbar you can directly open all the images that are linked with anchor tags in the same tab or a new tab or open one image per tab, this also has a save button so once you have opened all the linked images you can just click the save button and your images will be saved to a folder.

 save image in folder

one more of the extension which i like, i usally like to tag my images into folder, like if i see something funny i like to store it a folder called fun and like that, but it was always a pain to navigate to that folder all the time, and i have various kind of things to store, so this toolbar just helped me do the same.

{mosimage width=350&height=350}

image toolbar

now this is like the one which was already there in ie, which shows up when hovered over a image with options to save image, copy image, print image, image info etc

{mosimage width=200&height=44}

 you can download this extension from

background image saver

well the name says it all, some image galleries mask the actual images behind a transperant image and thus when you try to save that image it stores a blank image, this little extesion helps you overcome that annoyance.

will be looking to add more things to this list shortly, you can also have a look at my friends take on  10 tips for optimizing firefox
