Techie Buzz. Know Your Technology Head On.

Note: As a ethical user of technology I have first intimated the technical support personnel at AuctionAds allowing them to rectify this issue before I could make this post live with intimation that I will be making a blog post about this, that though will not impact my decision on running AuctionAds on Techie Buzz again.

As soon as I receive some response from them I will post it here. I have received a reply from the tech representative of AuctionAds saying that they have escalated the issue to their software development team.

I have been using AuctionAds for quite some time and have not seen any problems with it, recently while replacing ads and changing the layout a bit I chose their new web2 based ads displays, all went fine but while I was testing the ads I was shocked about what I saw, I saw a adult ad even when I had a technology related keywords only.

The ad in itself did shock me but my recent change to position it promptly led me to think twice on integrating ads from AuctionAds ever again, check the image below and imagine the shock I was in. If you check my positioning, the title says Featured. How would my readers feel that Techie Buzz is promoting such a vulgar product as a featured product, the impact on readers cannot be judged but most of them may never come back to my site again on seeing such ads.

What baffles me is that there is no filtering even when I had specified only technology related ads, below is the Firefox view source for the same page where auction ads was positioned.

If you see I have 4 keywords out of which the above product does not come into any category and should never have been there, is this the way ads are controlled by such a huge network. I personally do not have anything against AuctionAds but since most of the times the ads that are served on my site are not monitored by me, doesn’t their ad serving rules have to be good enough that we do not come against such glaring mistakes.

They do not even have a adult filter in place so that I can ignore such ads but that may be a case because they in itself are serving third parties, but is it worth having such ads on your site where control is beyond your reach.

Though I have earned a certain amount of income from it I will be certainly not be using any more AuctionAds on Techie Buzz, I would rather give up my earnings rather than getting embarrassed over what the featured product on my site or for that matter on any position on my site.
