Ads by Google but Advertise on Yahoo

I know the title is a little weird, but the competion between the top three in search advertising is such. Google and Microsoft have spent billions of dollars to buy new ad companies. Yahoo too is not far behind, but surprise of surprise how does Yahoo get some of its advertisers, any guesses.

By advertising with Ad words, isn’t it funny that Yahoo itself is using Google Ad Words as a platform to sell their advertising platform. I am not sure how the Yahoo guys agreed to do this but this is a total irony when they are competing against each other.

I believe that when you are competing with each other you will try to promote and get more advertisers for your network but promoting yourself on your rivals network is quite hillarious. This shows one thing that Google Ad network has far more reach than its rivals and brings in more clicks to advertisers or does it?

Check out the screen shot below.

Yahoo Advertisement on google search

Have you ever seen any such rival networks advertisement? I have not come across any Yahoo Ads yet so am not sure if Google advertises on Yahoo ;).

Do share your opinion about this.

Well, I’ve seen this way earlier. I’ve even seen Microsoft advertising using Google Adwords :D

Isn’t it weird Shankar that they do this, I mean they are fighting so much to get one up on each other and still advertise on a rival network :).

Because they know their rival - Google’s ad network is much more stronger than YPN, or even - aQuantive, for that matter ;)

Well, this is one advantage that brick and mortar stores do not have. It is like standing in front of your rival’s store and offering leaflets promoting your own stores.

I have encountered a ‘Google Bomb’ of sorts on similar lines. I had blogged here about it:

Yeah, those “Yahoo”ligans must be crazy - ads on rival network is like telling out loud “Your network is better than ours”
