What my desktop looks like
By on October 2nd, 2007

There has been a Meme going around the Blogosphere on how one’s desktop looks like. I decided to show off my desktop to my readers without being invited by anyone :-) .

Well I have a HP Pavilion widescreen laptop with a resolution of 1280 * 800, my desktop is organized and I have divided it into various parts using every possible screen real estate to organize all the icons. Basically the icons are organized into groups like there is a Media area in the top left corner. Development area in bottom left hand side. IM area takes the spot in the middle at the top, with the middle of the screen making space for quick notes I always want to have handy. With Google Desktop Quick search always ready for use.

The middle of the bottom areas have some utilities I use quite often. The top right hand side holds icons for things related to Internet and the bottom area the right holds different folders. I also have three World clocks showing me time from Mumbai In India, the local New York time here and the London Time.

Well that’s it take a look at the screen shot and let me know what you think about it.

I call it a developer’s workspace as it helps me find things easier and faster :-).

    hmm looks flashy too :)

    Nice to see some familiar ‘free or opensource’ (may I add non-mainstream/paid?) icons on your desktop.

    I am a minimalist of sorts and my desktop is ‘empty’! But one click gets me looking at what I want. So in a ‘show me your desktop’, I will be a hands down flat out boring loser! :(

    I like what you’ve done on yours though:)

    @indyank I like the black theme I upgraded my Ram to 2GB so that I would not have to sacrifice the effects :-)

    @RJ Many people like minimalistic desktops, yes I do use a lot of open source stuff too :-)

    @Madhur glad you liked it
