Orkut gets updates from friends

Today I logged into my Orkut account and found a new feature they added recently which shows updates from what my friends have done recently. This is a much refreshing change since now we can simply go to the friend who has recently uploaded a new picture or makes a change to their profile etc.

You can control whether you want to see the updates from your friends or not using the settings page. The home page announcement says

New! Updates to your friends’ profiles, photos, videos and testimonials will appear on your homepage in the “updates from your friends” section. To prevent your updates from being shown to your friends change your settings.

I guess this is one of the many changes Orkut is planning to release for its users. The recent changes includes a re-design, adding of additional Indian languages and now these friend updates.

    Even i noticed it , this feature is cool.

      Yups Madhur it allows me to know when some friend has added any video or new pictures, real cool

    I somehow do not like this feature as it does not give me the flexibility to prevent my friends’ updates from being reflected on my homepage.
    The privacy settings only allow me to hide my updates from my friends.
    I think this feature should be enhanced by extending the control both ways.

      @Anila I think it works both ways, if you block other people’s updates by showing up on your page it is reciprocal with your updates not showing up on others pages.

    Hi Keith,
    Well I have selected the ‘hide updates’ option ont he privacy settings of my profile.
    However,I see my friends’ updates on my home page.This is so because they have selected the ‘show updates’ option in their respective profiles.
    So it is not working both ways.
    Pls suggest some other way to control it as settings at my end are not making any difference.
