Notion Ink OTA Update Bricks The Adam – DON’T UPDATE
By on January 24th, 2011

First of, it was a pleasure to see the Notion Ink Adam finally shipping last week. However, it looks like bad publicity is written in their fate. From the launch fiasco to shipping problems, this device is getting into the news for the all the wrong reasons.

Notion Ink Adam

Some of the people who pre-ordered the Adam got their units today, however, instead of enjoying one of the best Android tablets, people are handling a device that won’t even start. This issue is occurring  when a user applies an Over-the-Air (OTA) software update to the device.

Bricked Notion Ink Adam

Police are in possession of a picture of the bricked unit and also an email from the Notion Ink team about "NOT APPLYING" the OTA update to the device. This is definitely been a ridiculous journey for a device that showed much promise.

Hopefully, the problem should not take a long time to fix, however, it shouldn’t have happened at all, considering all the things that the Adam had to endure during the past couple of months.

Hi!

Greetings from Notion Ink!

First of all, we would like to Welcome you to the Notion Ink Family!

We understand and share your excitement about you receiving your Adam.

Secondly, a couple of our family members who received the Adam already, reported to us that they faced some issues in updating their device.

So, as a precautionary measure, we would advice you to refrain from updating your Adam until we investigate this matter and contact you with an official update regarding this matter.

In case you need any other assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us at support@notionink.com.

Warm Regards
Notion Ink

Please DO NOT reply to this e-mail. Instead, please send a fresh e-mail to the address mentioned above.

As an advice, if you are a owner of the Notion Ink Adam, do NOT APPLY the new OTA update.

They are awful, i bricked my adam this morning thinking the update would fix all the laggyness and bugs, but now i cant turn the damn thing on. My fault for trusting an indian company, they dont even have a tech support number i can call.

Thanks notion ink, after waiting all this time through all your excuses and delays you do this. I cant even turn my adam on, no tech support, nothing.
I wish i could sell this thing and try to break even but who in their right mind would want to buy your junk.

FYI…the adam was buggy and laggy to begin with before the “update” put it out of its misery
