We have been a huge fan of Google Reader and have seen them rolling out new features ^[1] time and again.

As we were browsing through our feeds today we came across a new feature which may not be that interesting but useful nevertheless.

Many a times the unread feeds blow out of proportion and you may want to skip all the feeds so that you can start afresh. Google Reader asks your confirmation before skipping all the items in the feeds. This has got quite annoying over time.

The new feature that we saw allows users to skip those alerts from showing up the next time you try to skip feeds in a group just like the screenshot below.

We are unsure of the exact algorithm they are using to show this message since the message was not always shown to us but do think that they have a threshold limit of items before the message is displayed to the user. This can definitely be useful if you do not want them to ask for your confirmation time and again.

Update: We confirmed that there are new features being rolled out. Google Reader now has a preference page where you can;

• Change the language. There are 21 languages to choose from including Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Czech, Danish, English (US), English (AU), English (UK), Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Swedish.
• Change the Home Page for Google Reader.
• Change how items are marked as read while scrolling in expanded mode.
• Toggle visibility of Navigation pane on display.
• And of course setup whether you want confirmation when you are marking all feeds as read or not.
