The second match between the USA and Canada will not be an easy game especially when it involves an Olympic Gold medal. Yes, one week after the US and Canada faced off in the Vancouver Olympics (in a day dubbed Super Sunday), they will be playing the finals on Sequel Sunday. Though the US team pulled off a convincing 5-3 win over favorites Canada for the first time in 50 years it will be hard to do so again. The Canadians will be playing for Gold on home turf and the previous loss will just add to their winning spirit, while the US would like to push their advantage and win their first Gold after two consecutive Silvers. This game will be shown live on NBC on the 28th of February, 2010 at 3PM ET/12PM PT.
The Canadian team has been doing pretty well since their loss to the US. With a comfortable 8-2 win against Germany and 7-3 against Russia, they will be spearheading the finals with new tactics. Coach Mike Babcock was reported saying about the US team:
They did beat us, but now it’s a whole different game.
The US team on the other hand is full of young blood. They have been having an impressive Olympics, beating every team by regulation. They scored over both Canada and the Finns in their most impressive victories. The US coach Ron Wilson was quoted as saying:
[W]e’ve beaten Canada, and we’ll play better than we did the last time we played against them.
Quite confident eh?
