Get a Job Board with Jobamatic

Maki from Dosh Dosh [1] has written a great article about getting your own Job Board to monitize your site. The article tells you about making use of Job-a-Matic [2] to sell jobs on your site. I did act quickly on that tip as I had nothing to lose but just add another source of income for my blog.

How does Job-a-Matic help you make revenue?

If you have a site that writes about a certain niche then you are basically targeting people who want to read about it. Job-a-Matic allows you to show your readers job oppurtunities that will cater to those readers.

For e.g. If you write tutorials about programming then you are bound to have a huge readership from Programming readers. Now with Job-a-Matic you can easily display job listings to show to your readers, many of which will be looking out for new jobs.

Not only this, you also have the ability to add a feed flare to your Feedburner feeds, which makes publisicing the listing to both your web readers and feed readers simple.

So if you want to add another revenue source you can do that without having to worry about anything. Just register at Job-a-Matic and get your listing from them.

Techie Buzz is currently hosting the Job board on its own domain using the CNAME feature which Job-a-Matic provides to users.

What is the benefit of using CNAME in place of normal hosting on Job-a-Matic?

Before I go ahead you may want to know what CNAME means. A CNAME is basically just a canoconical name that is an alias for another name. In short a CNAME is a record of a domain name that points to another domain name or is a alias for another domain.

Getting back to the benifits, though I would love to make revenue from Job-a-Matic I would also like them to relate to this web site so I would like to have the job listings displayed from my site rather than someone else’s.

For this purpose I used the feature that Job-a-Matic provides to point a custom domain to their listing. I created a domain called http://jobs.techie-buzz.com [3] and pointed the CNAME record to the Job-a-Matic listing site at http://techiebuzz.jobamatic.com [4].

Remember to achieve this you will have to have access to your DNS records for your website. If you do not have this you need to contact the registrar of your domain to get this done.

Customizations Provided

Once you have registered and all set up you can customize the way the Job board looks by adding your own header and footer. This allows you relate your users to your own website. You can also change the way the jobs are displayed by using different colors.

All in all. If you just want to host a job board on your website without any hassle then you can definitely try out this option as it’s does not require you to add any new software to your site, and also does not use your bandwidth. So you just have to create your account and get started on showing jobs.

If you are interested you can list your jobs at Techie Buzz Jobs [5] for only 15$ per week, so go ahead and get your job listed here [6].
