As was believed, Flipkart, India’s largest e-commerce marketplace, today launched their first tablet under its private brand, the Digiflip Pro XT712. flipkart_digiflip_pro

Available in black and white variants, the XT712 is the first tablet in the Digiflip Pro series. A compact 7-inch tablet, the XT712 measures 113.7 x 185.3 x 9.2 mm and weighs only 285 grams. It’s got a premium rugged metal-finish polycarbonate body and feels quite sturdy in the hand, which makes it stand out of the crop of plastic bodies with average build quality.

The tablet features a 1280 x 800p HD resolution with IPS display and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core Cortex A7 processor with 1GB RAM. There’s a 5MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, and a 2MP front camera as well. The tablet includes a decent 16GB internal storage, expandable up to 32 GB with a microSD card.

Interestingly, the tablet features 3G Dual SIM capability, which should appeal to a lot of customers in India. The tablet also packs in OTG support. The 3000mAh battery is a decent inclusion as well.

“We are the first e-commerce marketplace in India to launch our own device through Digiflip Pro. With this, we have taken another step in our goal towards building an entire e-commerce ecosystem in India. With one of the largest user bases in the country, we have access to unparalleled data that allows us to predict what kind of products and services will work well in the market. And this has helped us come out with a tablet like Digiflip Pro XT712 that offers high end specifications at an unheard of price point in India thus delivering great value to our customers.”
- Michael Adnani, VP – Retail & Head – Brand Alliances, Flipkart

The after sales service for Digiflip Pro tablets will be handled through a network of over 120 service centres in 100+ cities. Additionally, customers in 13 cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, and Hyderabad can avail of priority 24-hour service by visiting any of the 22 priority centres in these cities.

Priced at ₹9,999, the Digiflip Pro XT712 is a quite good tablet on the specifications sheet, although it hurts that it’s powered by a dated Android Jellybean 4.2.2. The company also announced leather bookcase covers in six colors, priced at ₹799. Exclusively available on Flipkart.com, there are also a few offers and limited period promotions to add value to the purchase.
