Sony Xperia X10 Running Android 2.1

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 was among the first Android phones to hit the market with a 4-inch TFT screen, an 8MP camera and a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor. However, the biggest problem with the Xperia X10 in fact with all the Xperia Android based handsets –   is that they run on Android 1.6 (Donut). Sony Ericsson had promised that the X10 will get the Android 2.1 update sometime in Q3. With already a week and half in to September, it won’t be long before Sony Ericsson starts rolling out the Éclair update across various regions of the world.

Until that X10 owners should suffice their 2.1 desire with this new video of X10 running Android 2.1 :

As it can be seen from the video above, Sony Ericsson has replaced their older lock skin with a themed version of the original Android lock screen. The Android 2.1 update will also bring with it 720p HD recording to the X10.

Hopefully, the Android 2.1 update will also fix the nasty Wi-Fi bug which currently plagues the X10.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Supports Multitouch?

photos-sony-ericsson-xperia-x10-0

It seems like the mystery behind the multitouch support on Xperia X10 will never end. It was confirmed by the marketing manager of Xperia X10 that multitouch will not be supported on X10 but a “inside man” of mobile.co.uk says that Android 2.1 with multitouch is coming for X10 by September.

The point is whether this person knows more than the Sony Ericsson officials? It was said in few blogs that the marketing manager of X10 didn’t had any idea about the hardware of the phone ( All due respect to him, Mr. Sumit Malhotra). If we believe in this fact, then again, why didn’t Sony Ericsson corrected the statement made by the marketing manager? The statement made by him has definitely affected the sales of X10.

Well, we can just hope along with all X10 users that this turns out to be true.

Since the past two years, Sony Ericsson has lost most of its market shares due to poor administration, and not up to the mark handsets. After facing huge loses, the company has finally woken up and has been coming out with quality handsets since the past two months.

After the moderate success of Satio and Aino, Sony Ericsson will be launching so far one of the best mobile on paper, the Xperia X10. The phone is expected to launch in late January or early February 2010.

The Xperia X10 will be Sony Ericsson’s first Android handset. The phone will be sporting Android 1.6 (Donut) OS at release. Well, that is something which is annoying because Android 2.0 (Eclair) is already out and Motorola Droid is running on it. But Sony Ericsson’s excuse for it is that they have been customizing Android 1.6 since a long time and now Android 2.0 has released, so if they drop Android 1.6 and start customizing Android 2.0 then the phone’s launch will be delayed further.
