How To Install WordPress on Windows? [Video Tutorial]

In a normal software release cycle we have a development, staging and production environment where we:

  • Develop and test software on the development.
  • Stage the code on Staging environment for QA and clients to test.
  • And then move it to actual live production environment for the end users.

In a similar way, when you are planning to add a new plugin or make changes to your theme, it is always advisable to test it out on your local environment once, before you move the plugin or theme changes to your live website.

If you run WordPress on your local PC, chances are that you may not be testing it using custom permalinks, you may have on your actual website, the reason being that your default Apache configuration may give you 404 errors when you try to use custom permalinks.

Feed Pauser WordPress Plugin Release

It’s been a long time since I have released a plugin, there have been several under development but time constraints have curtailed me from doing so, but that said I am working on several ideas and one of them is being released today, it’s called Feed Pauser.

What Is Feed Pauser And What Does It Do?

Feed Pauser is a plugin I wrote to address a issue I have been facing for a long time, the option to delay publishing a post to a feed. Feed pauser, pauses a post from being made available through RSS.

The reason was that several times, I would have made some mistakes in the post grammatically, spellings or even added a wrong link, with instant feed publishing the readers who already received the feeds may see wrong data, which can be avoided if we have a option to pause the feed for a certain amount of time.

In addition to that when you apply styles to WordPress through Windows Live Writer, a test post is published which looks bad when your RSS readers see it, this can easily be avoided with a delay between publishing a post to your site and it being available through your feed.

Better Tags Manager WordPress Plugin Release

I am very proud and happy to release my 5th plugin for the WordPress community. The plugin called Better Tags Manager (BTM) makes your life easier when it comes to editing tags for your posts.

Better Tags Manager (BTM) was created out of my own needs to completely do away with categories and move to tags. The problem arose when, converting categories to tags left many of my posts hanging in between with no tags.

That said editing tags was also not easy for me and that is the reason I created this plugin which is the best and easy way to edit tags, manage tags, delete them, bulk edit tags and add tags to multiple posts without even editing them individually.
