Vodafone Launches 3G Services In Kolkata

After waiting for almost a year, Vodafone finally launched its 3G services earlier this year in India. Tata Docomo was the first operator to launch its 3G services in India, followed by Aircel, Reliance, Idea and Airtel. Last week, Vodafone launched its 3G services in Uttar Pradesh. And now, Vodafone went ahead and launched its 3G services in Kolkata circle.

Speaking on the occasion, Sridhar Rao, Chief Executive Officer, Vodafone Essar East Limited said, We expect a strong uptake and high demand for these 3G Services and we welcome all our subscribers to faster, smarter, better world of Vodafone 3G.

Vodafone had grabbed 3G license for 9 circles Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai & Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra & Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh (East) and West Bengal. Vodafone is expected to launch 3G services in the remaining circles, by the end of this month.

Vodafone offers video calling, high definition gaming and fast internet to their subscribers, along with exclusive access to retransmission of live IPL matches and streaming of entertainment and other content on their smartphones. Vodafone Mobile Internet plans is available at a minimum price of Rs 100 for postpaid and Rs.103 for prepaid subscribers, which offers 100 MB of free data usage. On the other hand, the Mobile Broadband plans is available at a minimum price of Rs.650 for 1 GB of free data usage.

Vodafone also offers local and STD video calling at Rs.3/min. Customers can also enjoy live TV with a subscription pack at Rs 150 monthly or Rs 7 daily.

Vodafone Launches 3G Services In Uttar Pradesh

Vodafone finally launched their 3G services in India. The Vodafone 3G will be first available for customers in the Uttar Pradesh circle. Tata Docomo and Reliance Communication already launched 3G last year. Later, Aircel and Airtel joined the bandwagon and launched their 3G earlier this year. Vodafone 3G services will be first launched in the cities of Lucknow and Kanpur in the first phase, followed by Allahabad and Varanasi in the next month and later it will be available in remaining towns of the Uttar Pradesh circle.

“Vodafone is the largest operator in UP (E) with about 13 million subscribers. The company is offering its subscribers free 3G services till April 10 and the 3G tariff and packages for it would be announced later. We have the largest EDGE enabled cell sites in the circle numbering 8,200 and we only need to put 3G antennae and some additional gadgets for 3G. The Vodafone 3G services will give its customers a faster, smarter and better mobile experience with internet access at speeds up to 21.1 Mbps,said Ravi Santhanam, ┬áVodafone East UP chief operations officer.

In just seven easy steps, customers can now get new Vodafone prepaid or postpaid connection delivered at their doorsteps.

  2. Choose Mumbai as your circle
  3. Go to eShop on the home screen
  4. Click on the New Prepaid/Postpaid Connection Option on the eShop home screen
  5. Choose from one of the various Vodafone lucrative per second or per minute tariff plans
  6. Customers will be directed to a page where they can choose their favorite number from among an exhaustive list of prepaid/postpaid connection numbers
  7. Customers can proceed to pay online via Credit/Debit card

Customers can even select the tariff plan that suits your needs. The prepaid connection card will be delivered to the customer with in 24 hours of purchasing it from Vodafone eShop. A duly filled application form will be collected from the customer along with the necessary address & identity proof. The connection will be activated post acceptance of the relevant documents. This service is currently available only for customers in Mumbai circle.

Vodafone Essar recently announced Nokia Siemens Networks and Ericsson India as partners for its 3G network across India. Vodafone had grabbed 3G license for 9 circles – Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai & Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra & Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh (East) and West Bengal.
