TunesBag: Upload Music Online and Share With Your Friends

Want to store music online and share the songs with your friends? Tunesbag is just the tool you need. It acts as an online music library and lets you store audio up to 1 GB. You can listen to the songs, share them in various social networks and see what others are listening. Cool !

To get started with Tunesbag, you need to register here. You can create a fresh Tunesbag account with your email address or choose to login using Twitter, Facebook, Google, Yahoo or Msn.

After you login, you can start uploading audio songs from your computer. Here is how the Tunesbag dashboard looks after logging in:

Upload songs in your Tunesbag account: There are a lot of options to upload songs to your Tunesbag account. You can download their Adobe air app, use the browser uploader or email the songs as an attachment. You are given a private email address and sending the song as an attachment to this email address works fine. I used the browser uploader to add songs and it took only a couple of minutes to finish. While uploading a new song you can organize it into a custom playlist as well.

Listening to playlists: You can create playlists of songs that you have added in your TunesBag account. This helps in organizing the audio collections into selected groups. From the “Explore” tab you can see what your friends are up to, what they are listening and which artist is popular at the moment. The service also supports tagging the songs and creating sets.

Techie-Buzz Verdict

Tunesbag is very simple and minimalistic, which makes it any music lovers first choice. The service is free, and unlike other audio sharing services which let you share only a handful of songs, Tunesbag is a smart alternatve. The only downside: you can upload only mp3,m4a,wma or ogg formats.

FormSpring: Create Question Boxes for Facebook, Twitter and Your Blog

Do you have a blog? Are you on Facebook on Twitter? Do you want a quick feedback from any of your friends, fans or blog visitors?

If the answer to any of these questions is yes, check out FormSpring. It’s a brilliant tool to create question boxes in which your friends or readers can ask questions. The question boxes can then be published in Blogger, Tumblr, Facebbook or your Twitter accounts.

To get started with FormSpring, sign up for an account. You can use an existing Facebook account to login and create your profile.(see example)

This is how your FormSpring profile looks:

You can share your profile url with anyone, and they can ask you questions. The questions arrive in your FormSpring account and you can answer them. Here is how the set of questions look:

You can block as well as delete the questions you do not wish to answer. The brilliant thing about FormSpring is that the question box can be embedded in your blog, Twitter or Facebook account. Your friends and users can answer the questions from the social networks, and they do not need to open any account or sign up. Once you answer the questions from your Formspring account, the answers are published on your profile page.

The question box can be designed and completely customized which includes adding a background image and a logo. Here is how a sample question box looks:

Techie-Buzz Verdict

Formspring is nice and sweet. The fact that it allows anyone to ask questions in a universal way is impressive. However, it does not allow email notifications when someone asks you a question. You have to check your FormSpring account for incoming questions and answer them. This can be a bit tedious especially when you have every possible social network to check and monitor.

My Zoho PC Is a Desktop UI for Zoho Services

No, Zoho is not releasing a desktop version of its applications. But, the folks at ManageEngine – a Zoho Corp division, have developed a pretty desktop-like user interface for Zoho products.

In many ways My Zoho PC (MyZPC) is a natural extension of the Zoho Office Suite. Most of the tasks performed by Zoho apps are tasks which have been traditionally performed by desktop application. MyZPC mimics your desktop and provides an experience similar to that offered by offline Office Suites.

Besides the cool factor, the biggest advantage of My Zoho PC is that it makes working with multiple apps more intuitive. Not only are you able to access apps faster, but you can work with different apps within the same browser tab. Until now switching between multiple apps within a single browser tab was possible only with a Zoho Business account.

Techie Buzz Verdict

Zoho is undoubtedly one of the most powerful and complete web-based office suites available. Thanks to the sheer quality of their products, Zoho has managed to stay competitive in a niche which is populated by offerings from both Google and Microsoft. My Zoho PC may be an unofficial product, but it does a pretty good job at extending and improving the Zoho experience. Not everyone will find this useful; MyZPC is especially pointless if you use only one or two Zoho services. But, even then you will probably want try it at least once, simply because it is nifty.

Take the Jung Typology Test – What Kind of Person Are You?

carl_jung I see all kinds of tests and stupid quizzes that people take in places like Facebook and MySpace, or send via email. This is not one of those tests. Although there may be debate about whether personality tests are valid, the Jung (or Myers-Briggs) Type Indicator tests are most often used by professionals to evaluate people they plan to hire or give career advice to.

These tests consist of a series of questions that are designed to reveal the basic aspects of your personality. The original questionnaire from Myers-Briggs was based on theories from Carl Jung, and first published in 1962.

Here you can see an example of the questions:

Take the test:

You can take this Jung Typology Test at the Humanmetrices website. Naturally, in order to get good results, you have to be honest with yourself. When the test is over, you’ll see the resulting four letters which represent which of the 16 personality types best match your answers. There are also links providing detailed descriptions about each type.

I’ve taken this test twice over the last two years. Both times I ended up with the same result. I’m told that my personality is INTJ. According to some sources, this means that I’m a rare type, which only appears in about 1 to 4 percent of the population.

What kind of person are you?

Be sure to post your results in the comments below.

Techie Buzz Verdict:

The Humanmetrics site offers a great free service with few ads. It’s somewhat fun and also very informative. You might learn quite a bit more about what really motivates you and makes you act like you do.

Do you love StumbleUpon? Do you love Digg? If the answer to both the questions is yes, then you will probably enjoy Jogstr. Jogstr is a web-service which takes the data from Digg and serves it through a StumbleUpon like interface.

Sharing pages is quick and painless thanks to inbuilt support for Twitter, Facebook and pretty much every social bookmarking service you have heard about.

Jogstr - Stumble Through Digg

Techie Buzz Verdict

One of the best things about StumbleUpon is the element of surprise. Once you have selected your areas of interest, it works on its own. Jogstr brings the same experience to Digg. It works really well for the Entertainment as well as Offbeat section. However for the rest of the categories, you may find the traditional Digg interface to be more useful. Jogstr is an interesting idea which has been executed nicely. Give it a try and let us know what you think about it.

Review of the Eset Online Scanner

A few days ago, I installed Microsoft Security Essentials on my new netbook. It is doing it’s job quite well so far. In fact, it caught an intrusion from some questionable software (my bad) that I was trying out.

Today I decided to get an additional opinion from Eset Online Scanner. I trust the Eset name, since their antivirus solutions have been a gold standard in security for many years. Eset’s online software uses the same AV engines and signatures as it’s flag-ship products, ESET Smart Security and NOD32. It promises to work on any Windows NT, 2000, XP, Vista or 7 systems. In addition, it will run directly inside of Internet Explorer 5 or greater (using ActiveX), and you can also run it from a downloaded Smart Installerif you aren’t using Internet Explorer.

After the ActiveX or the Smart Installer finishes, Eset will start downloading it’s signature database.

Next, you’ll be able to actually tweak your scan with a few settings. The settings will even allow you to change the areas that ESET will scan on your hard drive.

Now ESET gets down to the dirty job of actually scanning the PC. I was pleasantly surprised that it didn’t take much more that 15 minutes before it finished.

And finally, you will reach the results screen. Hopefully, you’ll get the same message that I did.

If ESET’s online scanner does detect some suspected malware, it actually won’t automatically delete the files. Instead, they are put in quarantine and you’ll be allowed to either restore the files or delete them.

ESET Online Scanner page

Techie Buzz Verdict:

techiebuzzrecommendedsoftware1 Having a second opinion on your system’s security is almost priceless, and in this case, it’s almost painless. I can highly recommend ESET Online Scanner. I found no faults with the scanner, but if it were up to me, I’d get rid of the ActiveX install. It’s not needed and it’s extra work supporting it. I think I could also recommend that you download the Smart Installer and drop it on a flash drive, just before you make a house call to fix up your friend’s sick computer.
