Twitpolls is the latest offering from WayIn, a startup from the Sun Microsystems co-founder Scott McNealy. The polling service recently got funded and extended its service to provide a polling system meant for Twitter. A startup trend unexploited for so long and with great chances to be another popular service that has grown around Twitter.

You have a question to ask to your followers, click the Create Poll button and you are taken to a page where you can type in the question and then the answers which will be added to the tweet as hashtags. Plain and simple, the tweet can then be replied to by any of your followers with the hashtag as an answer. Since your community does not need to leave the comfort of Twitter, it increases the chances of getting an answer to your question. This is also quite mobile-friendly which undoubtedly is the need of the day.

The new tool opens up an opportunity for brands to gauge real user insights about their brand, products or happenings. This in turn will help them get into their customers’ shoes and get a view of what they adore and what they detest. The seamless integration with Twitter makes it better to respond for any Twitter user.

There are other tools that serves a similar purpose but they aren’t as end-to-end tied with Twitter. The service developers are working with the Twitter hashtags to track the answers and so far the polls are working just fine. However the service has the even bigger task of making it useful for big brands before it can make the term a regular in daily Twitter buzz. TweetDeck is one of my favorite desktop clients for accessing Twitter and Facebook feeds among other social networking platforms. They also have clients for the Android, iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. However, the one that impressed me the most was their Chrome App for Google Chrome.

The TweetDeck Chrome App brought all the goodies from the desktop app to the browser. Today, TweetDeck has announced that they will now be allowing users to access TweetDeck on any web browser using a HTML5 web app.

As we said at the time, Chrome TweetDeck marks the start of a new era for TweetDeck, with all efforts now focused on building our next-generation products as HTML5 and mobile apps. Since then we have been working hard, not only on improving the existing ChromeDeck experience, but also on bringing the same TweetDeck app to other web platforms.

TweetDeck Web will be available in a limited web beta for users which will be available as a standalone web site and does not require any downloads. However, TweetDeck Web beta will be subject to hourly limits because it will not be using the streaming API from Twitter.

TweetDeck Web will initially be opened up as private beta and users can sign up to get early access at http://www.tweetdeck.com/webbeta. The initial focus group would be users of browsers such as Google Chrome, Firefox 3.6, Firefox 4 and Safari, with support for Opera and Internet Explorer 9 being added soon

Though TweetDeck is taking a great step forward by taking their platform online, they are not the first one’s to provide a web-based format and several other services like Seesmic, Dabr and HootSuite already provide web based Twitter clients.

However, TweetDeck chrome already notched up an impressive 400,000 users in a short spam of time. It would be interesting to see how much dent they make into the market share of other services by launching the web interface for different browsers.

Ever wanted to say something which you could not fit in 140 characters on Twitter? Well, there are tons of services which allow you to tweet more than 140 characters. However, those services will basically trim your tweet to a smaller length and then add a URL for users to see the rest of the tweet.

Tall Tweets, is a similar service, which allows you to send tweets which are longer than 140 characters. However, instead of adding a link to view the whole tweet, this service trims the content and fits it in multiple tweets.

Natter is a free web based application that links your Facebook and Twitter accounts. Setup your account in 3 easy steps and control both the account from Twitter itself.

1. Go to the Natter home page and get started by joining the service.

2. Connect your Twitter and Facebook accounts with the service.

3. Once done, you are good to go. You can change the settings by scrolling down to the bottom of your account settings page.

What Happens When You Use Natter?

1. Whenever you update anything on Twitter it will be automatically posted to your Facebook account. On the other hand, if someone comments on the Facebook update, the app auto-posts a @ reply to Twitter with your name and the message.
NOTE: You can also control the tweets to be posted by using a custom hashtag (#) in your Tweet. You can add the custom tag in Natter settings.

2. It automatically converts your Twitter name to the real world counterpart.

3. Natter scans your tweets for links and if found, updates your Facebook account with a new post.

Unlike other apps of its kind, Natter offers two-way linking of your accounts. So if you are a social media addict, it definitely eases the task of updating and replying. Although the cross updating is not real-time, it helps to monitor Facebook & Twitter updates from Twitter only. Go ahead and give it a try. If you are left unimpressed get rid of it.

The tool is in beta stage and hence there are lots of bugs which need to be taken care of. The tool is pretty solid but as it is new the plug-in support is not that many to choose from. The app froze on me couple of times while using it on my laptop. The app is yet to fulfill its promises but I am sure it will do so in the future releases.

A couple of days ago, TweetDeck announced that they will be releasing a beta version of TweetDeck for Android soon. The very next day a very early build of the beta version of TweetDeck for Android got leaked. TweetDeck CEO Iain Dodsworth even recommended people from avoiding installing this pre-beta build. Today, TweetDeck has finally released TweetDeck Beta for Android. I installed the application on my Samsung Galaxy S and have found it pretty decent until now.

The UI of TweetDeck for Android looks very polished. In fact, for me TweetDeck is the best looking Twitter client available on Android. I also loved the multi-column timeline, replies and DM column layout. However, the application lacks some advanced settings like the ability to select the timeline refresh interval, background updates etcetera.

SpokenTwit is an online service that lets you update your Twitter status using your voice. Just navigate to the website and give it access to your Twitter account (the link can be found at the bottom of the page). Once you are done with it, you will need to sign up for a free account. This online service surely promises to do something that is quite unique and useful. The service is excellent and what I like to mention specially is that, they provide a prompt customer support. I must say that Spoken Twit is definitely a service to try for every Twitter addict.

Buzzbird is an open source MIT licensed Twitter client that helps you to stay updated with the service. The tool is developed on Mozilla XUL Framework. Most of the coding of the app is done using JScript. The application works on Mac OSX, Linux and Windows.

Download Buzz Bird and install it on your computer. The application lets you perform all the necessary actions related to Twitter (like favorite, retweet, reply, direct message). URL shortening is automated. Is.gd and tinyurl are the two services you can choose from.You may also select one from the two methods of posting update while retweeting any tweet; the two formats being Tweet (via @screenname) and RT @screenname: Tweet.   The tool does not support image sharing though.

The app provides a very basic interface for users which makes the tool very easy to use. The cross platform compatibility makes it acceptable to a large number of Twitter users. I have used the tool and have not yet found any major bug in it. Hence on an ending note, I must say that the tool is definitely worth trying.
