First Hand Pics Of Nokia 5230

Nokia 5230 is a S60 5th Edition Series phone that comes with resistive touch screen. I wonder when would Nokia start making capacitive touch screens. Nokia 5230 comes with a 3.2-inch widescreen touch display (640 x 360 pixels) along with full-screen QWERTY keyboard and handwriting recognition bright screen. The homescreen features a Contacts Bar and a Media Bar. Other features of Nokia 5230 include a 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, Adobe Flash Lite 3.0 and MIDP Java 2.1 APIs. WCDMA frequencies which are supported depends on the region where the device is available etc.

Dailymobile.se guys shared few first hand pictures of Nokia 5230. Check them out:

Samsung who has not been known as a veteran in communicator devices are now showing improvement with the introduction of omniaPRO. The phone indeed has very good features. The UI especially the Touch Gallery is very good. Samsungs proprietary TouchWIZ UI is installed on top of Windows OS. The widgets on the home screen can be set as two different modes work and life. Samsung has done well to improve from the predecessor Omnia in the UI. OmniaPRO is indeed a better choice when it comes to a communicator.

The phone is a good combination of looks, music, video playback, browsing and many more. A wireless earphone is more welcomed. The main thing which adds a zing in this phone is that it’s a touch screen slider. The phone also has many new walkman backgrounds like a recorder, cd player and gramophones running in background. The phone has no portrait mode in now playing UI only landscape. However the resolution is somewhat strange and no secondary camera for video calling are few negatives about this phone. The touch interface is only available in media and camera and above all it’s the first capacitive touch screen phone from Sony Ericsson. After seeing Satio, Aino and Yari from Sony Ericsson we can say that Sony Ericsson is changing now.

Palm Pre To Hit Markets On June 6

Palm Pre is ready to debut on June 6 under its initial exclusive carrier: the Sprint CDMA network in the United States. Palm Pre comes with mind blowing hardware and its new Operating system called Palm webOS.

Palm comes with 3.1-inch touchscreen, just like the Iphone. The sliding QWERT keyboard is slightly curvy and the Phone goes slightly smaller than Iphone when the keyboard closed. It comes with a nice 3.1 Mega Pixel camera with LED flash. Palm is the the first mobile phone to use Texas Instruments OMAP 3430 processor.

The Pre will be available in two versions:

  • EV-DO Rev. A and 802.11b/g, as well as Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR and A2DP
  • 3G GSM in place of EV-DO

The big turn off for me is, it doesn’t come with a microSD slot. That means memory is not expandable and will have to stick to the 8GB provided. On the sides, it has 3.5mm headphone jack along with volume up/down buttons and large speaker on the back side.   It comes with MicroUSB port which will let you charge phone/transfer files from your workplace.

Palm_webOS_Launcher Palm is implementing in its webOS, the           operating system it’s developed based on Linux.

webOS is designed for use with a touch screen-based graphical user interface. It includes a suite of applications for personal information management and makes use of a number of web technologies such as HTML 5, JavaScript, and CSS.

The OS supports multitasking and users will be able to perform more than one tasks at a time.

The Palm Pre will be available across the US on June 6 in Sprint stores, Best Buy, Radio Shack, select Wal-Mart stores and online for $199.99 with a two-year service agreement and after a $100 mail-in rebate.

Will Nokia 5800 Tube be the next iPhone Killer?

We have been playing around with our new toy the Nokia N95 for few days now, and it is definitely the best smartphone available today. Except for it not being a touch phone, it beats the iPhone outright on features. We will be posting a detailed review about it, once we have all the applications and games installed and tested.

In the meantime we did see another phone that caught our attention. The Nokia 5800 Tube is rumored to be a real killer phone and it’s possibly the first phone from Nokia to have a touch screen. Nokia 5800 Tube will make use of the S60 Touch UI built on Symbian (which is great) OS for mobile phones. Knowing how good Nokia smartphones are, we can definitely vouch that this phone will prove to be the real competition to iPhones.
