Thunderbird 3 is out with several exciting features (read Thunderbird 3 review), and people have already begun to discover hidden gems in it. The trick we will tell you, allows you to access Google Wave in Thunderbird 3.

Follow the tips given below to access Google Wave in Thunderbird 3.

Step 1: In Thunderbird, open the Error Console by choosing it from Tools > Error Console.

Step 2: Paste the text given below into the Code textbox and click on the Evaluatebutton.

The tab will always remain open till you close it yourself, even if you close the Thunderbird application. If you close it by accident, follow the tricks listed above to get it back.

Mozilla, the organization behind Firefox and other open source programs, just released version 3.0 of the Thunderbird email client.

They’ve packed quite a few changes into the new version, such as a tabbed interface, a new search tool and a streamlined setup for Gmail and other online mail services.

I’m a long time Gmail user, so switching to a PC client to read my mail instead of viewing it through a web browser is still feeling strange to me. However, the setup process was as simple as providing my login and password. Within 2 or 3 minutes, I was sending and receiving mail with no problems.

The T-bird main interface isn’t anything exciting to look at, and looks like most other email clients at first. However, there are lots of themes available to make it look just how you like it.

The new search interface is almost unbelievable. It’s very fast and it can find anything you’ve ever written once all of your mail is indexed.

The tabs in Thunderbird are a big improvement for those who need to multitask. Opening an email in a tab is as simple as double clicking and right-clicking on a message opens it in a tab in the background. T-bird will also remember what you had open in the tabs when you close the program. The next time you return, the previous mail and searches will still be displayed.

Another thing many people will like is that you’ll be able to use Thunderbird on all of your computers, whether you use Windows, Mac or Linux.

If you enjoy creating nice looking emails, Thunderbird has a good many features to help, fonts of all kinds and tools to insert images, tables, links and HTML code.

The biggest plus in my estimation, is the addon support. There are lots of cool addons for Thunderbird, similar to the addons for Firefox. The first addon that I used allowed me to synchronize my Gmail contacts with T-bird. That certainly saved me time and effort.

The download for Windows is less than 9mb and it installs easily with very few steps.

Thunderbird 3 is scheduled to come out of beta next week. Mozilla Messaging has decided to release Thunderbird 3 Release Candidate on Monday next week. This release will mark the end of the beta version and the beginning of Release Candidate of Thunderbird 3. The last release of Thunderbird, was Thunderbird 3, beta 4.

[ For those who do not know, Thunderbird is a e-mail client from Mozilla. Like Firefox, it is free, open source and powered by Firefox. ]

Thunderbird has not been able to succeed in its sphere as much as Mozilla did in the browser market. The new Thunderbird will feature one of the features behind the popularity of Firefox. Thunderbird 3 RC1 will bring add-ons to the client. Initially, add-ons could be written for Thunderbird 2 as well, but this time, Mozilla Messaging promises a better integration. Some new features on offer are:

• An important add-on that Mozilla Messaging has plans of developing, is one which will check a twitter user and tell you if you can follow that user back, if he/she is following you.
• An add-on, seemingly is built-in to display calendars from Google and Yahoo calenders. This calendar will be rendered using the built-in Firefox engine, given that Thunderbird is Firefox based.
• The new version will also feature a new add-on named Lightening, which can be used to provide a calendar and also integrate with web-based calendars from Google and others for creating, managing and accepting event invitations, marking to-do jobs etc.
• Thunderbird 3 will feature inline search, which will look through the contents of a mail page to search for the query string or keywords and not just the title and tags. Search within folders has also improved. The search result can be filtered with time and place of occurrence of the search result like title, in-text or in tags.
• The mail can be archived and removed from Inbox like in Gmail.
• A new tabbed interface.

This list is only an overview. I will be able to provide more information once the RC is available on Monday. This marks the beginning of a new range of developers- Thunderbird add-on developers. The new features sure sound promising and will help increase Thunderbird’s appeal to more users.

Thunderbird released a new version 3.0 alpha codename Shredder

Thunderbird the popular desktop email client have released a new alpha version 3.0 codename Shredder.

The main changes in Thunderbird Includes

• The new Add-ons Manager (Tools > Add-ons) can now be used to download and install a Thunderbird customization from the hundreds of Add-ons available from our community add-ons website. When you first open the Add-ons Manager, a list of recommended Add-ons is shown. Note that few add-ons are compatible with this early alpha at the time of release, as add-on developers need to upgrade them.)
• The address book can now read data from Mac OS X’s system Address Book, but that feature is currently disabled by default. To enable it, see this blog entry
