Unlocked Sony Xperia S, P And Sola Goes On Sale In The US

Back in January, Sony announced the Sony Xperia S smartphone at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2012 in Las Vegas. It is the first smartphone in the new Sony Xperia NXT series. Next month, Sony announced the Xperia P at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012 in Barcelona. Later in March, the company announced the unique Xperia Sola with “Floating Touch” technology.

The Sony Xperia S, Xperia P and Xperia Sola runs on the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) Operating System. The Xperia S has already received the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update. However, the Xperia P and Xperia Sola are scheduled to get this update in the coming weeks. These smartphones are already available for purchase in most of the European and Asian markets. However, the folks living the US were left behind. Sony online store and Newegg has finally started selling the unlocked version of these devices in the US. Sony Xperia S Gets The Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Update

Earlier this year, Sony announced the stunning Xperia S smartphone. This handset was announced and showcased at the Consumer Electronics show (CES) 2012 in Las Vegas. It is the first smartphone in the new Sony Xperia NXT series. Sony Xperia S comes with 4.3 inch HD display, 1.5 GHz Qualcomm MSM8260 dual-core processor, 12 megapixel camera with full HD (1080p) video recording, NFC (Near Field Communication) and much more. However, most of smartphone buyers were disappointed because Sony shipped this amazing smartphone with the old Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) Operating System.

Sony already announced that Xperia S will get the much-awaited Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update between late May and early June. However, the update got delayed due to some unknown reasons. Now, Sony has finally started rolling out the Android 4.0 ICS update for the first smartphone of Sony Xperia NXT series.

Apart from the new features found in Ice Cream Sandwich, this update brings some enhanced apps such as the Walkman, Album and Movies which increase the media capabilities of the Xperia S smartphone. The Walkman app uses the company’s audio technology and social features to help you discover music your friends like and share your personal favorites, while the Album app allows you to sort your photos and videos more quickly and easily.

The size of the update is 200 MB. This update will be available via OTA (Over-The-Air). Alternatively, you can also update your Xperia S manually, just by connecting your device to the computer and use the Sony’s Bridge software. It is advised to backup all you data before updating the device. You should also make sure that, the battery is fully charged before updating your phone. Sony Mobile Communications finally launched the much-awaited Sony Xperia S in India. This handset was originally announced and showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2012 in Las Vegas. The Sony Xperia S is the first smartphone in the new Sony Xperia NXT series. This handset currently runs on the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS. However, the company will roll out the latest Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Operating System in the coming months.

Sony Xperia S Launch Delayed In The UK

Earlier this month, Sony announced the powerful Sony Xperia S smartphone at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2012 in Las Vegas. Play.com, a popular online retailer in the UK has already started taking pre-orders of this smartphone. According to the retailer, the Sony Xperia S was expected to release on January 30. However, we have bad news for those who have already pre-ordered this device in the UK.

The much-awaited launch of the Sony Xperia S has been delayed in the UK. Play.com customers will have to wait till next month to get their hands on this amazing device. Play.com is expected to release the device on February 13, however we are still not sure if the device will be released on the date mentioned by the retailer. Clove, another popular online retailer in the UK is expected to sell the SIM-free Sony Xperia S from the first week of March. According to the retailer, the device will be launched after the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012 and the stock is expected to arrive on the 6th or 7th of March.
