The current line-up of Xperia handsets from Sony Ericsson may never get the Android 2.2 officially, but this has not stopped the developers at XDA forums to support the phone.

Over the last week, Sony Ericsson has started rolling out a new software updated for their Xperia range of Android phones including the X10 and the X8. This new software update aims to bring pinch-to-zoom feature to the X10 and update the UXP UI found on the Xperia family.

More details about the successor to the Xperia X10 Mini Pro – the Xperia Duo have leaked out. It will have a 5 MP camera, 800 MHz processor, 384 MB RAM and Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Sony Ericsson UK has confirmed that the Xperia X10, X10 Mini, X10 Mini Pro and the X8 won’t be getting the Android 2.2 update after all. This news is definitely not going to please all the Xperia owners out there.

The XPERIA X10 Mini is quite a successful phone on its own, packing quite a punch within its tiny frame. Sony Ericsson have apparently decided to build up on this line by introducing a successor to the X10 Mini.
