Sony Ericsson Offers Xperia Users 50 GB Free Space on Box.Net

When Apple launched the iPhone 4S,, a cloud storage service, announced that it would offer 50 GB free storage space to all iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users who signed up for a Box personal account within 50 days.

Even HTC recently tied up with Dropbox to offer free 5 GB storage with every HTC Android phone.

Sony Ericsson has announced an even better offer today. It has teamed up with to offer 50 GB of free cloud storage space for every Xperia phone owner.

To avail of the offer, you just need to download the app from the Android market, create an account and log in before December 31, 2012 (the deadline might actually be December 31, 2011, so just register before that to be on the safe side). is the enterprise focused counterpart of Dropbox. It is trying to grab share in the consumer cloud storage market from Dropbox, which recently raised funding at a $4 billion valuation.

It’s nice to see that smartphone manufacturers are now trying to differentiate their products with such promotions and offers, instead of fighting a war based only on hardware specifications.

Samsung & LG still don’t offer any free cloud storage. Presumably, they will offer some such deal with Dropbox or too, in the near future.
