Samsung recently announced the new Android powered Galaxy Ace Duos smartphone. As the name suggest, it is a dual-SIM Android smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy Ace Duos is the dual-SIM variant of the highly popular Samsung Galaxy Ace. This handset allows the users to manage their work and personal lives with one smartphone. Last month, we reported that Apple and Samsung CEOs were to meet for settlement talks over patent issues at a courthouse in San Francisco, CA. That meeting happened earlier this week. The talks seem to have mostly unproductive, with the U.S. case underway in California all but certain to proceed to trial.

While Apple has kept quiet about the talks, The Korea Times reports on comments from Samsung officials indicating that no agreement was forthcoming.

The two technology giants could find no clear agreement through the talks, according to a Samsung official. Apple Korea declined to comment on the matter.

The patent battle is now headed for trial on June 27, despite both firm’s stated wish to avoid legal proceedings.

According to foreign media outlets, both technology giants held firm on their assertions: Samsung continued to demand Apple pay royalties for using its wireless transmission technology and Apple insisted that Samsung copied its design in various products.

The report also says that Samsung’s contingent will be returning back to Korea on Friday, and with Samsung chairman Lee Kun-hee also returning from a three-week business trip to Europe. Serious question…anyone actually surprised that the meeting between Apple’s CEO and Samsung’s CEO didn’t go well?

Samsung recently announced the new Samsung Galaxy Appeal slider phone. This handset is exclusively available for the AT&T GoPhone subscribers in the US. The Samsung Galaxy Appeal is a prepaid Android smartphone, which will be first available in Walmart stores, followed by AT&T retail outlets. It runs on the old Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) Operating System. This handset is not expected to get the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update in the future.

The Samsung Galaxy Appeal is the first smartphone offered with AT&T’s GoPhone service that features a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Samsung Appeal owners can get 5 GB, 10 GB and 15 GB of data for just $5, $15 and $25 per month respectively. All data packages are available on the $50 Unlimited Talk and Text nationwide plan for GoPhone smartphones. This handset will be available at Walmart from June 5, followed by all other AT&T GoPhone distribution channels from July 15.

Samsung recently launched the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 310 in India. It is the company’s first tablet device which runs on the latest Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Operating System. Earlier this month, Samsung had started rolling out the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Galaxy Note in certain regions of the world. Beginning from today, Samsung has started the phased roll-out of the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Galaxy Note in India.

The Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Galaxy Note brings with it lots of new goodies like Face Unlock, Bluetooth tethering, along with some UI enhancements. The update will also install some premium suite of apps optimized to take advantage of the S-Pen stylus of the handset. Galaxy Note owners in India can download and install the update on their handset-tablet hybrid by using Samsung’s KIES software.

It is quite surprising to see that Samsung India has already released the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Galaxy Note, while the update for the Galaxy S2 is still not available. The never ending war between Samsung and Apple has added one more page to its record Apple has filed for an immediate U.S. preliminary injunction against Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet  which could result in the device getting pulled from stores by next month.

Previously, Court ordered Apple and Samsung to negotiate their problems outside the court to which both the companies agreed. However, Apple recently won a ruling from the U.S. Court of Appeals which ruled that Apple’s design-related patent on the Apple iPad is valid and now it’s filing for an immediate injunction against Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Tablet. Apple has asked Samsung to respond to their motion by May 25th.

Samsung, previously, had to modify the design of Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Germany because of Apple’s design patent infringement claim.

The Samsung Galaxy S III was announced earlier this month, and has already caused quite a stir in the Android world.
