Back in December, Google announced the first Android Gingerbread powered device, the Samsung Nexus S. This handset is the successor of the popular Nexus One smartphone. This handset is already available in India from March, but after waiting for almost 5 months, Samsung officially launched this powerful smartphone at an event in Chennai. Samsung Nexus S comes with the 4 inch Super Clear LCD display instead of the Super AMOLED display in India.
The slew of launches on the Android platform represents our commitment to deliver a smarter’, simpler and more intuitive smart phone experience to our consumers. Samsung also launched the Galaxy Ace, Galaxy Pro, Galaxy Fit, Galaxy Pop and Galaxy Pop CDMA in India for Rs.17,040, Rs.13,750, Rs.11,870, Rs.10,290 and Rs.10,500 respectively.
Some mysterious guy over at XDA has managed to get his hands on the upcoming Nexus S from Samsung/Google. He has posted some pictures of the device as well as the screenshots of the device running Android 2.3. The pictures of the handset are quite blurry but nevertheless, the pictures still show the curvy design of the handset. The back of the handset looks very similar to the Galaxy S.
The source says that the Nexus S sports a 4-inch Super-AMOLED (Perhaps S-AMLOLED2?) with WVGA resolution. Along with this, the camera of the phone is capable of recording videos in 720p resolution. The source also confirmed that the Nexus S will pack an ARM v7 CPU. He did not mention whether it packs a dual-core CPU or a single core one.
Also, there is no word on the internal memory and the amount of RAM the handset will come packed with. Hopefully, Eric Schmidt will announce the Nexus S along with Android 2.3 in the upcoming few weeks.
It was just yesterday that the first images of how the Nexus S looks leaked on the Internet. Today, we have some information about the specifications of the device. T-Mobile will be the official carrier of the Nexus S and the handset will sport EDGE and HSUPA (up to 7.2mbps).
The phone won’t feature HSPA+ to take advantage of the higher band with being offered by the recently rolled out HSPA+ network from T-Mobile. The back of the phone will pack a 5MP camera which might be assisted by an LED flash. The phone will also sport a 1500mAh battery. Sadly, no details about the processor, amount of RAM and internal storage capacity of the phone are available.
However, in all probability the Nexus S will be powered by a 1.2GHz Hummingbird processor from Samsung and will pack 512MB of RAM.
