Samsung Unveils The Galaxy Pocket Entry-Level Smartphone

Samsung is not only known for selling high-end smartphones, but the company also launches an equal amount of smartphones in the entry-level and mid-range categories. After the highly popular Galaxy Y and Wave Y, Samsung recently launched the new Galaxy Pocket budget smartphone. Currently, the Samsung Galaxy Y is the company’s cheapest Android phone. However, the Galaxy Pocket will be Samsung’s cheapest Android smartphone after the launch.

The Samsung Galaxy Pocket is basically an entry-level Android smartphone targeted at the youngsters. It comes with a 2.8 inch QVGA display and 832 MHz processor. This handset runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) Operating System. However, you should not expect this device to get the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update ever.

Samsung Galaxy Pocket features a 2.8 inch QVGA touchscreen display, sporting a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, 832 MHz processor, Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) Operating System, TouchWiz UI, 2 megapixel Fixed Focus camera, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 3G Connectivity, USB 2.0, Bluetooth 3.0 and much more.

This handset also comes with a 3.5 mm headset jack, Stereo FM Radio with RDS, 3 GB user memory, microSD card slot, 32 GB expandable memory, Samsung Apps, Samsung Kies, Social Hub, Google Play Store, Samsung ChatON, Accelerometer, Digital Compass, GPS with A-GPS and a 1200 mAh battery.

This handset measures 103.7 x 57.5 x 12 mm and weighs just 97g. The Samsung Galaxy Pocket will be available in Italy starting from March, followed by Europe, CIS, Latin America, Southeast and Southwest Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and China during the Q2 of 2012. Samsung has not yet announced the price of this device.
