One Million Samsung Wave Units Sold In Europe

samsung waveSamsung Wave is already a huge hit worldwide. In July, we reported that Samsung has sold one million units of Samsung Wave all over the world and now Samsung has reached another milestone. Samsung has sold one million units of Samsung Wave in Europe itself. Samsung Wave is the first handset to run on the Samsung’s proprietary BADA OS.

Samsung Wave is a powerful device which runs on the BADA operating system. It comes with a 3.3 inch Super AMOLED display, 1GHz processor, 5 megapixel camera with HD (720p) video recording, 3G Connectivity, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, microSD memory card slot, 32GB expandable memory, Built-in GPS receiver and much more.

Samsung Wave is already quite popular in Europe and it is one of the best selling phones in France, Germany and Austria. The powerful hardware and attractive price made this device, one of the best selling phones ever manufactured by Samsung. This handset will be soon launched in the South Korean market. Let us know your views regarding Samsung Wave and BADA OS.

Samsung Wave Sales Touches 1 Million Mark

As I expected, the Samsung Wave turned out to be a huge hit. The Samsung Wave runs on Samsung’s proprietary BADA OS. It has a 3.7″ Super AMOLED touchscreen and an 1 GHz processor.

Today, Samsung reported that the worldwide sales figure of Samsung Wave touched the 1 million mark. The Samsung Wave released a month ago and the figures are very good. However, the figures won’t stand in front of the iPhone 4 sales, which was 1.7 million in three days.

Samsung also said that their powerful Android phone, the Galaxy S reached 300,000 sales mark in South Korea in 19 days. Samsung will be releasing the Galaxy S in US via four widely know carriers. The T-Mobile release date is 15 July, while AT&T will release their version on 18 July.

I have always been a fan of good hardware in a mobile phone. The success of Wave and Galaxy S is no surprise for me. I personally feel that the figures of Galaxy S will surpass Wave soon.

Samsung Wave 2

Samsung unleashes the second wave of its propriety Bada OS with two new smartphones – the Samsung S5250 Wave 2 and the Samsung S5330 Wave 2 Pro. As reported earlier, the Samsung S8500 Wave was the flagship model of its Bada OS line projected to hit the Indian market next week.

The Wave 2models inspite of the name are not successors of the S8500 in the features they carry. Both the models sport 3.2″ TFT screens with WQVGA resolution which are far from the league of the high resolution Super AMOLED screen hosted by the first Wave. The remaining specs are also lower than those of the S8500 Wave.

Both are 2G models also supporting Wifi 802.11n and 3MP cameras. The only notable difference between them is that the Promodel has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

Samsung is looking to lower the price bar on its Bada OS line of smartphones with these models and thereby make an impact on the lower price range markets. They should be hitting the market by August.

Samsung S8500 Wave Spec-Sheet and More

The Samsung S8500 Wave, soon to hit the Indian markets, is a beauty to behold. Samsung is launching its own brand new OS the Bada OS with the S8500 Wave as its next flagship model. How will it fare against heavyweights such as Android, Windows Phone 7 and Symbian? Only time will tell.

The mammoth Super AMOLED touchscreen is the heart of this beauty giving it stunning image quality. Its powered by an ARM Cortex A8 based 1GHz CPU, so it is hardly lacking in horsepower. Its greatest disadvantage is that having a new OS, there are not many applications available – unlike the numerous applications for Android or Symbian.

Features :-

  • 3.3″ 16M-color Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen
  • ARM Cortex A8 based 1GHz CPU
  • The new Bada OS with Samsung Apps
  • Built-in GPS receiver
  • Samsung Mobile Navigator
  • 720p HD Video Recording
  • 802.11n Wi-Fi
  • TouchWiz 3.0 UI
  • 5.0 MP camera

With the S8500 Wave, Samsung has taken first steps in a new direction. As its application base grows, the successors of S8500 might have a greater chance of success. Thus it might be safe to say that its Android based cousin the Samsung Galaxy S has a far greater probability of being a hit. It is already being touted as the best Android phone yet, but the future being fluid and dynamic the Samsung S8500 Wave might just surprise us all.
