At the CES 2011, Nokia did not announce any new product or services. It is expected that Nokia will announce some killer devices at the upcoming MWC 2011. One of the handsets expected to be announced by the Finnish giant is the Nokia N9 the first phone which will be running on MeeGo.
Now a Finnish website is reporting that the Nokia N9 is expected to sport some killer internal specifications. Apparently, The N9 will be sporting a 1.2GHz Intel Atom CPU. However, I seriously doubt if this is going to be true. An Atom processor will eat up the battery of the phone in no time, and the Atom processors are based on the X86 architecture.
I guess the site is talking about the Intel Moorestown platform here which is closely based on the Intel Atom processor.
The site also suggests that the MeeGo handset will feature the same 12MP camera as found on the N8. Until the official announcement from Nokia itself, this news is too good to be true for me. The last rumor is that the N9 will sport 4G LTE antennas as well. However, the source says they are not too sure about it.
The Mobile World Congress (MWC) is less than a month from now. Only then we will know whether these rumors turn out to be true or not. Until then, I will suggest readers to gobble up all this information with a pinch of salt.
The White iPhone had been delayed indefinitely, however several users have spotted the white iPhone 4 suggesting that the device exists and is being tested.
Now according to a leaked inventory screenshot sent to Mac Rumors by a source, the White iPhone 4 will probably show up in Best Buy Stores on February 27th. Both the White iPhone 4 16GB and 32GB models are seemingly coming to Best Buy on February 27, 2011. However, there is no indication as to who the carrier of the device will be. Earlier Engadget has also spotted the white iPhone 4 in Vodafone Germany’s inventory.
Considering that Verizon is launching the iPhone 4 on February 10, the white iPhone 4 may be available for both AT&T and Verizon networks. Though there is no way to confirm this through the listings. Considering that it took 2 years for Apple and Verizon to come up with the CDMA version of the iPhone, they might have definitely worked on doing the same for the white iPhone 4.
Unfortunately, we will only know what type of iPhone 4 will be available after February 27, so you might just have to hold off buying the iPhone from Verizon till then. If you do buy it, you might be able to return the device within 30 days, so make sure to check out on that.
Are you waiting for the white iPhone 4? Will you buy it if it only comes on AT&T or would you prefer waiting for the Verizon version? Do let me know through your comments.
Samsung Hub has come across some details and a leaked image of a new Android smartphone by Samsung – the Samsung Forte. Apparently, it is an LTE enabled device for MetroPCS. It will sport a sliding QWERTY keyboard and will come with a 1 GHz Hummingbird processor and a 5 MP camera.
It will run Android 2.2 Froyo with the TouchWiz UI but will likely get an upgrade to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. No other details are out yet.

Over the weekend I saw many of my hassled friends on Facebook reading and believing a report from a satire website about Facebook closing down this March.
The report which came out Weekly World News said that Mark Zuckerberg had said that they were shutting down Facebook because it had gotten out of control. The report went ahead to quote the Vice President of Technical Affairs at Facebook, saying that they would close down the website on March 15th.
After March 15th the whole website shuts down, said Avrat Humarthi, Vice President of Technical Affairs at Facebook. So if you ever want to see your pictures again, I recommend you take them off the internet. You won’t be able to get them back once Facebook goes out of business.
However, not one word of this news is actually true. The website in question is a satire site which posts fake news which is then consumed by gullible people who believe in it, or people who just want to have some fun. A similar site called Faking News (http://www.fakingnews.com) exists and puts up spoof stories on Indian and international issues.
As for my friends and several other thousands of people who got fooled. Facebook is a lucrative business and only a fool would decide to close it after securing billions of dollars as investment, and Mark is not to be counted as one of those fools. Facebook also confirmed the same through an update on Facebook.
We didn’t get the memo about shutting down, so we’ll keep working away like always. We aren’t going anywhere; we’re just getting started.
So please think before believing and spreading panic. We also have rumors that the world is coming to an end in 2012. Unfortunately all requests to God for confirming or denying this fact have not been answered. We will post an update as soon as we get more information from God .
Have fun and continue Facebooking.
Please read this post with a huge pinch of salt. The folks over at HTC Inside have managed to get their hands on what is supposed to be the specs of the upcoming HTC Thunderbolt. It is already known that the Thunderbolt will be the first 4G LTE handset from Verizon and HTC and will be unveiled at the upcoming CES.
Apparently, the Thunderbolt will pack in a dual core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon processor. The device will also sport a huge 4.3-inch LCD along with an 8MP camera at its back accompanied by 2 LED flash. The front of the phone will house a hold your breath 5MP camera for video calling. The Thunderbolt will have 16GB of on board memory along with a microSD slot expandable up to 128GB. The handset will also launch with Android 2.3 Gingerbread on board. Oh! The phone has a huge 1800 mAh battery as well.
Now, I guess readers must have understood why I told them to read this post with a huge pinch of salt. Qualcomm had demonstrated its dual-core Snapdragon processor just a month back and the company made it clear that it won’t hit the handsets before Q2 of 2011. Also, a 5MP front-facing camera? Seriously!?!!
In my opinion, the Thunderbolt will be similar to the Desire HD except for a few subtle changes and the 4G LTE support.
Well, it seems that our initial reactions (as well as most of the internets’) regarding GOG.com’s sad demisewere greatly exaggerated. Apparently, GOG.com isn’t completely dead. It’s just taking a new avatar and (hopefully, hopefully) still retaining its DRM-free nature.
Directly from their wall-of-text landing page:-
We confirm that the official statement from GOG.com’s management concerning the ongoing events will take place on Wednesday at 12 p.m. EDT (6 p.m. CET)
Thanks for being with us. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDRvuKjissQ
First of all, we apologize everyone for the whole situation and closing GOG.com. We do understand the timing for taking down the site caused confusion and many users didn’t manage to download all their games. Unfortunately we had to close the service due to business and technical reasons.

The official statement from GOG.com’s management concerning the ongoing events is planned on Wednesday. If you have a GOG.com account you’ll be informed about all the news concerning GOG.com.
Watch that teaser of the new GOG.com and then view this thread for clarifications. Apparently lots of new things are in store.
If you guys at CD Projekt are reading this: thanks for screwing with us. Can we get back GOG.com now?
Apple’s FaceTime, which is available in iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G is rumored to be available on Mac OS X and Windows Soon. FaceTime which only works on a WiFi connection (workaround for FaceTime on 3G) uses Apple’s open source video chatting protocol.
According to 9 to 5 Mac, FaceTime may soon be made available on iChat allowing Mac users to video chat with FaceTime enabled devices. Apple is also rumored to be working on an application for Windows based PCs.
The rumors comes from Mac4ever who had also predicted the Magic Mouse and iPad among other things. Keep your fingers crossed though.
Although, select partners have long been able to upload lengthy videos on YouTube, most uploaders have had to contend with 10 minute clips. BoingBoing is now reporting that YouTube is preparing to increase the maximum duration of uploaded content to 15 minutes.
Earlier, Google had revealed that although YouTube was serving 2 billion views per day, an average user spent only 15 minutes per day on YouTube. One of the biggest challenges for YouTube is to increase its engagement factor. It’s a great venue for some quick-fire entertainment, but it lacks the compelling programming offered by traditional television channels. The increased video duration will offer more leeway to content creators to come up with content that will hopefully be more attractive to folks looking for something more substantial than David After Dentist.
Update: It’s official. Google has just confirmed the news through the official YouTube blog.
According to some reports from Bloomberg, Verizon may get the iPhone 4 in January 2011. This will end the AT&T exclusivity with Apple and most likely the woes for current iPhone users on the AT&T network.
AT&T has been the biggest bane for the iPhone with dropped calls and horrible data network being a regular complaint from the existing customers. Both Verizon and AT&T have been at a "Who has a better network war" through TV advertisements, and if this news is true, AT&T will be heavily hit and lose existing and new users to Verizon.
The fact is, Apple is going to dramatically increase the number of devices it sells in the U.S. when exclusivity at AT&T ends, said Hodulik, who is based in New York and rates Verizon shares neutral. It’s hard to ignore the quality issues that AT&T has faced.
Verizon has been testing their 4G LTE network for a while now, and the tests have come up with some really good numbers where data connectivity has peaked with downloads at 50Mbps.
If current iPhone users get even 1/10th speed on Verizon, they will be more than happy to switch. Will you switch from the AT&T network if the iPhone 4 is available at Verizon?
According to a BGR source, the next generation iPhone or iPhone 4G may land in AT&T stores in June. This rumor may be true, considering that Steve Jobs may unveil the iPhone 4G at the WWDC 2010 conference on June 7th.
There have been several leaks of the iPhone 4G, however, the device that may be unveiled next month might be slightly or completely different altogether.
So will be you waiting with bated breaths on June 7, 2010 watching the Steve Jobs keynote, praying that he might spring the iPhone 4G from his pocket and show it to the world, or would rather just hang around and buy a Android based device with Android 2.2 Froyo installed?
