Samsung initially announced the Galaxy S III in Marble White and Pebble Blue color. People who went hands-on with the device at the launch event stated that the Pebble blue variant of the Galaxy S III looked much better than the Marble white version.
A couple of weeks after its announcement, rumors started floating that Samsung had to recall all the Pebble blue variant of the Galaxy S III it had shipped because of some manufacturing issues. Rumors suggested that the Korean manufacturer had to destroy nearly 600,000 back covers for the Galaxy S III due to this manufacturing defect. Another rumor suggested that the front and back of the Pebble blue variant of the Galaxy S III had different color shades, due to which the company had to recall the handsets. The Galaxy S III went on sale in quite a few regions of the world on May 29th with only the Marble White color in stock.
Now, it looks like Samsung has had to make some changes to the Pebble Blue color of the Galaxy S III which gives the phone a slightly different shade. The company has apparently also renamed the the Pebble Blue color of the handset to Metallic Blue. Below is an unboxing video of the handset with the new shade of blue known as “Metallic Blue” -:
