Nokia X2 Firmware Updated To V4.90

Nokia_X2Another day, another new firmware released for a Nokia phone. This time it’s the Nokia X2. The software update is numbered version 04.90 and aims at improving the performance and stability of the device.

The firmware update also improves the camera image quality and an improved messaging application. Along with this, the audio quality of the handsfree speaker of the device has also been improved.

The Nokia X2 features a 2.2-inch QVGA display and runs on Symbian S40. The back of the phone sports a 5MP camera along with a LED flash. X2 owners can update the firmware of the device using Nokia Software Updater (NSU).

Users are recommended to make a backup of their data before proceeding with the firmware update.

Nokia X2-01 Details Surface; Another Low-end QWERTY Packing S40 Phone

Looks like Nokia is soon going to release another low-end QWERTY based phone running on S40 the X2-01. Eldar over at Mobile-Review has posted some pictures and the rumored specifications of the X2-01. The Nokia X2-01 looks similar to the Nokia C3 except that it lacks Wi-Fi. The phone will also sport 2G (no 3G), Bluetooth, FM Radio and a microSD card slot. The back of the handset also sports a 3MP camera without flash. The handset will also feature two dedicated buttons for music and messaging. It’s evident from the specs of the handset that Nokia will be positioning the X2-01 a slot below the C3.

Nokia will be targeting the X2-01 towards emerging markets like India and Brazil.

Nokia Internet Radio Client For S40 Handsets Released

This news sure is going to bring music (literally!) to most of the Nokia S40 owners out there. The good guys over at Nokia Beta Labs have released an Internet Radio Client for Nokia handsets running on S40 OS. The application brings the Nokia Internet radio service to your handset thus bringing you tons of radio stations from all around the globe using Wi-Fi, GPRS or 3G. Internet_Radio

The application also supports hide and unhide option which allows users to run this app in the background. Ovi Music is also integrated into this application, thus allowing users to purchase music they like right from their handset. As of now, the application is in beta and supports only a handful of S40 phones like the Nokia X2 and the X3-00, X3-01 and X3-02.

However, the folks at Beta labs have promised to add support for more S40 based devices in the future.

Nokia C5 And X2 Get A Firmware Update

Nokia has just rolled out minor firmware updates for the Nokia C5 and the Nokia X2. The firmware update for the Nokia C5-00 is numbered v032.010, while that of the X2 is numbered v04.80. The C5-00 firmware update bringsNokia C5 with it performance and stability improvements. Along with this, the performance of the web browser and search function have also been improved. This new firmware update also includes the latest version of the Facebook application. Nokia has also bundled Qik application with this firmware update.

The firmware update for the Nokia X2 also aims at improving the performance of the device. The performance of the camera application and the SIM lock feature of the device have been improved. Users can update the firmware on their device by either OTA (Over-The-Air) or by using Nokia Software Updater.

Nokia X2 Offers 5-megapixel Camera, Dual Speakers and Social Networking

Nokia has just announced the X2 and if the spec sheets are any indication, Nokia may have a winner in its hands. The X2 is a candybar handset with a 2.2-inch QVGA screen and measures in at just 13mm thin and 81g light.

This handset has plenty to please everyone. Music lovers will appreciate the dual speakers, dedicated music keys, 3.5mm headphone jack and FM stereo, while snaphappy folks will love the 5-megapixel camera with video recording capabilities. For the net-addicts there is Facebook widget and Nokia Messaging. Whilst the former provides direct access to the social networking site from the home screen, the later takes care of email and Instant Messaging.

Other features include Ovi Player PC for transferring songs from you PC over USB 2.0, Ovi Store for getting quick access to Nokia apps, up to 16GB of storage via microSD card and Bluetooth 2.1 for wireless music enjoyment.

Nokia X2 is expected to be launched in June. According to the official announcement, it will be available for an estimated retail price of €85 before taxes and subsidies. We are hoping that this translates to a street price in the range of Rs. 5000 and Rs. 6000.
