Nokia Launches 2690 in India For Rs. 2,750

Nokia has launched another low-end phone in India, the Nokia 2690 for Rs. 2,750. Nokia 2690 has a VGA camera and expandable memory slot.

Nokia has a launched a new low-end handset in the Indian market. The Nokia 2690 is a low-priced handset which comes with some nice features.


Nokia 2690 has a 1.2 inch display and a VGA camera with up-to 8GB expandable memory. The device will be sold in 4 colors which include Graphite, White Silver, Hot Pink and Blue.

Nokia 2690 also has Bluetooth connectivity along with GPRS and EDGE support. If you are a music buff you can use the phone to play FM Radio too.

Nokia 2690 is also lightweight and weight only 80.7gm. You can purchase a Nokia 2690 for Rs. 2,750 only.

Nokia-2690 Back in April, Nokia had announced the 2690 along with a slew of other budget phones aimed at the Indian market. At that time, we had stated that the Nokia 2690 houses all the standard features you have come to expect from a budget phone and then some more.

The attractively designed 2690 is available in four colours: hot pink, graphite, blue and white silver. Its 1.8 inch TFT display supports 262K colours at a resolution of 128 X 160 pixels. It is a GPRS and EDGE enabled handset with a capable MP3 player and FM radio. The handset comes with 15MB of inbuilt memory, which can be expanded up to 8GB (microSD).

Besides supporting SMS, MMS, email and social networking, Nokia 2690 also bundles Nokia Life Tools, which is an SMS based VAS (value added service) aimed at rural India.

We had initially expected the handset to retail for around Rs. 2,700. While that would have been an absolutely killer price, Nokia has chosen to offer it for a MRP of Rs. 3,700. At this price point, the 2690 will face stiff competition, but Nokia is probably betting on its reliability and reputation to sway undecided customers in its favour.

Nokia 2690 supports the GPRS and EDGE networks and has a MicroSD memory slot which can be expanded up to 8GB. The phone also comes with Bluetooth and Micro-USB connector for data transfers.

Nokia 2690 runs on the Symbian S40 OS and has support for Calendar, notes, voice recorder and a easy to use email client.

Nokia 2690 also has a VGA camera (640 x 480px) with video recording at 176 x 144px at 15fps. For the music buff the phone comes with the Nokia music player and Stereo FM radio.

Nokia has always been known to create sturdy devices, and the Nokia 2690 is the perfect low-priced device that packs in entertainment and a camera. The device will sell in the Indian markets for Rs. 3700.
