A neutrino detector has been planned that is set to eclipse the tallest tower on land – the Burj Khalifa, except that it is going to be underwater! All this for the most elusive particle known to mankind.

The Double Chooz experiment has detected the disappearance of neutrinos and this has led them to measure the mixing angle between the electron and tau type of neutrinos.

Fermilab’s own experiment MINOS had shown the same effect as OPERA shows i.e. they had detected faster-than-light neutrinos. The data was however discarded. Now they’ll take another look at it, to see if they can verify OPERA’s claim.
